About the role

  • Rula mission: treat whole person mental health care, reduce stigma, provide evidence-based compassionate care.
  • Lead and scale SRE and Core Platform Services teams, and adopt a Developer Experience capability while promoting a DevOps culture.
  • Shape strategy, structure, and technical direction of cloud infrastructure to ensure reliability, scalability, security, and cost efficiency across Rula’s platform.
  • Partner with Product, Application, Data, and Security teams to deliver world-class developer experiences, modern DevOps practices, and resilient core services.
  • Leadership role managing managers; primarily strategic and people-management focused rather than hands-on coding.
  • Provide oversight for projects in domain, make risk-based tradeoff decisions, and collaborate across engineering leaders to drive outcomes.

Requirements

  • 15+ years in software engineering, with 10+ in engineering leadership roles as a people manager.
  • 10+ years leading DevOps, SRE, Developer Experience, Infrastructure and/or Platform Engineering teams in a SaaS environment
  • 8+ years working with cloud providers, with a primary focus on AWS
  • Experience managing managers
  • Demonstrated success in building and scaling cloud-native tooling and frameworks in modern cloud environments (AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform)
  • Experience leading teams that build high-quality, user-friendly internal tools, SDKs, and/or engineering empowerment services tools, frequently used across an engineering org
  • Experience directly managing or tracking projects with a variety of stakeholders (define and build plan, manage activities, risks, stakeholder communication, etc)
  • Experience with cloud cost management / FinOps
  • Experience with implementing and driving a DevOps culture and associated practices
  • Proven success of ownership of cloud architecture & environment management
  • Prior experience in mature startups or scaled engineering org (> 150)
  • Prior experience working in a HIPAA compliant or other similarly regulated environment
  • Responsibility for managing and delivering an amazing developer experience through the use of tools, frameworks, and processes
