Oversee treasury functions and daily transactional accounting activities including cash receipts, accounts payable, payroll, cash management, investments, and fixed assets.
Oversee and maintain the system of internal controls over applicable accounting processes to minimize risk and recommend process improvements.
Recruit, hire, train, and conduct performance evaluations for Accounting operations staff; responsible for training, performance management, and accountability of staff.
Oversee and manage daily/monthly balancing and reconciliating activities; review account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
Perform monthly reconciliation of bank accounts and monitor/manage cash balances; make recommendations on investment of excess funds.
Participate in preparation of periodic internal financial statements and assist with quarterly and annual statutory and GAAP financial statements and insurance regulatory filings.
Participate in preparation of the corporate tax returns by outside tax preparer and oversee timely preparations and submission of 1099s.
Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures and comply with local, state, and federal government requirements.
Assist external auditors and provide required statements and information for the annual audit and periodic statutory financial examinations.
Assist with preparation of the annual budget, analyze and monitor actual vs. budget results, report key variances, and make recommendations for corrective action.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration required.
Five years or more of related experience required.
Certified Public Accountant designation desired.
Excellent management and supervisory skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Mastery of accounting and tax preparation software.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
Experience with monthly balancing and account reconciliations, bank reconciliations, cash management, investments, fixed assets, payroll, accounts payable, and cash receipts.
Knowledge of GAAP, statutory financial statements, and insurance regulatory filings.
Experience assisting external auditors and preparing information for audits.
Experience recruiting, hiring, performance evaluations, training, and performance management of staff.
