About the role

  • Own Renew Home's VPP operations, spanning Markets and Utilities, translating regulatory and market requirements into error-free operational workflows.
  • Oversee the day-to-day operational tasks required to run VPPs across the California and New York electric markets, including contract fulfillment, compliance submissions and reporting, market bidding and event planning, and alignment with future product development.
  • Prepare the organization for expansion into new markets as required by the business.
  • Serve as the key operational point of contact for Engineering, Product, Finance, Legal, and Policy; proactively communicate operational updates and advocate for the needs of the VPP.
  • Collaborate with Policy Managers to ensure regulatory and market rule compliance; translate regulatory updates into actionable internal workflows and operational deliverables.
  • Scope and manage operational projects, break down complex tasks into manageable deliverables, manage timelines, and ensure stakeholder alignment.
  • Utilize Excel and data tools like Sisense to generate insights and track Market VPP performance.
  • Manage external engagements with regulatory agencies and contract counterparties; ensure coordinated view of external relationships and fulfill data requests.
  • Drive operational excellence from strategy to execution, implement and improve processes to meet contractual and regulatory commitments.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in electric market operations or trading, with direct experience in the California energy market (CAISO) strongly preferred.
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret and synthesize complex data.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (modeling, analysis, and reporting).
  • Experience managing analysts and junior team members, providing guidance, mentorship and oversight of deliverables.
  • Project management expertise: proven ability to scope projects, manage timelines, prioritize competing tasks, and clearly communicate progress.
  • Process-oriented mindset, with a track record of identifying and resolving inefficiencies to drive operational excellence.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to distill complex topics for diverse audiences and clearly articulate rationale.
  • Self-directed and proactive, able to take ownership of projects, seek guidance when needed, and break down work into manageable deliverables.
  • Collaborative problem-solver, comfortable working across teams in a communicative and supportive manner.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Ability to thrive in a fully remote environment, managing work independently while staying connected with colleagues.
