An industry-leading travel group is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented remote Assistant Bookkeeper to join their finance team.
This permanent, full-time role offers the flexibility of primarily remote work; however, the successful candidate must be Cape Town–based, as minimal ad-hoc on-site work may be required.
Working hours are 08:30 to 17:00, Monday to Friday, with a one-hour lunch and some flexibility.
This role reports to the Finance Manager.
Responsibilities: Transactional bookkeeping; Issue invoices accurately and timeously; Issue and record credit notes; Verify and reconcile BSP (Billing and Settlement Plan) billing; Process journals provided, including airline debit/credit memos (ADM and ACM journals); Process intercompany expenses; Process supplier expenses; Perform cash book processing and reconciliations; Calculate and prepare commission payouts; Manage debtors, including follow-up of outstanding balances.
Requirements
Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar bookkeeping position (travel agency experience is beneficial)
Proficiency in accounting systems and MS Excel (Quicktrav accounting system experience is highly advantageous)
Strong attention to detail and numerical accuracy
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a remote environment
Cape Town–based with availability for minimal ad-hoc on-site work
