About the role
- An industry-leading travel group is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented remote Assistant Bookkeeper to join their finance team.
- This permanent, full-time role offers the flexibility of primarily remote work; however, the successful candidate must be Cape Town–based, as minimal ad-hoc on-site work may be required.
- Working hours are 08:30 to 17:00, Monday to Friday, with a one-hour lunch and some flexibility.
- This role reports to the Finance Manager.
- Responsibilities: Transactional bookkeeping; Issue invoices accurately and timeously; Issue and record credit notes; Verify and reconcile BSP (Billing and Settlement Plan) billing; Process journals provided, including airline debit/credit memos (ADM and ACM journals); Process intercompany expenses; Process supplier expenses; Perform cash book processing and reconciliations; Calculate and prepare commission payouts; Manage debtors, including follow-up of outstanding balances.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar bookkeeping position (travel agency experience is beneficial)
- Proficiency in accounting systems and MS Excel (Quicktrav accounting system experience is highly advantageous)
- Strong attention to detail and numerical accuracy
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a remote environment
- Cape Town–based with availability for minimal ad-hoc on-site work
