About the role Lead clients through a structured payroll implementation journey across South Africa and broader African region Assess current payroll processes, business structures, and compliance requirements Configure Deel Local Payroll to align with local laws, set pay rules, earning/deduction codes, employee groups, and security roles Create comprehensive documentation for requirements, configurations, and project changes Design and execute data migration strategies, including cleansing, mapping, and test migrations Lead parallel runs to validate accuracy between legacy systems and Deel Local Payroll Provide first live payroll run support and resolve issues in real time Manage a client portfolio and meet monthly billable hours goals Collaborate with cross-functional teams and client IT teams to ensure smooth implementation Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Commerce (BCom), Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field Postgraduate qualification or certification (e.g., PMP) is a plus 3+ years of proven experience in payroll system implementation Strong understanding of South African payroll laws and compliance standards Experience with various payroll systems and software Ability and interest in client-facing project management Excellent communication and collaboration skills Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines Fluent in English (speak, read, and write) Authorization to work in the country of residence (work permit/visa status) Stock grant opportunities dependent on your role, employment status and location Additional perks and benefits based on your employment status and country The flexibility of remote work, including optional WeWork access Healthcare and benefits provided to workers in many countries Copy Applicant Tracking System Keywords Tip: use these terms in your resume and cover letter to boost ATS matches.
