About the role
- Lead clients through a structured payroll implementation journey across South Africa and broader African region
- Assess current payroll processes, business structures, and compliance requirements
- Configure Deel Local Payroll to align with local laws, set pay rules, earning/deduction codes, employee groups, and security roles
- Create comprehensive documentation for requirements, configurations, and project changes
- Design and execute data migration strategies, including cleansing, mapping, and test migrations
- Lead parallel runs to validate accuracy between legacy systems and Deel Local Payroll
- Provide first live payroll run support and resolve issues in real time
- Manage a client portfolio and meet monthly billable hours goals
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and client IT teams to ensure smooth implementation
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Commerce (BCom), Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
- Postgraduate qualification or certification (e.g., PMP) is a plus
- 3+ years of proven experience in payroll system implementation
- Strong understanding of South African payroll laws and compliance standards
- Experience with various payroll systems and software
- Ability and interest in client-facing project management
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- Fluent in English (speak, read, and write)
- Authorization to work in the country of residence (work permit/visa status)
