Understand new and existing statutory and regulatory requirements and the impact to new and existing products
Understand state specific filing requirements for membership benefit plans including where filings will be required and what materials will need to be included
Understand membership benefits plan requests received and participate in identifying the filings needed to support the plan
Perform analysis of non-standard policy form requests with the ability to determine where additional/expanded filings are required
Develop policy and certificate language revisions needed to comply with new and existing statutory and regulatory requirements, along with relevant insurance industry best practices, that are clear and conform with regulatory requirements
Perform state filing and approval process for policy and certificate forms, applications/enrollment forms, rate, and client filings
Provide thoughtful, accurate, timely status updates for filing initiatives keeping business partners with dovetailing responsibilities informed
Identify potential impact of language changes on administration, marketing, and claims and formulate alternatives to mitigate the impact
Research competitor filings to understand the insurance regulatory environment
Prioritize state filings based on business needs and regulatory requirements
Assist analysts in lower positions with drafting state specific language, regulatory interpretation, and state objections
Perform all aspects of the post-approval process for all state filings, including but not limited to validating approved forms, documenting state specific requirements, etc.
Review state variations on newly approved forms and engage with Legal and Compliance to create language for extraterritorial documentation for assigned states, if necessary
Provide meaningful feedback on new forms, including input on structure, organization, completeness, technical accuracy, grammar, formatting, and clarity
Respond to inquiries and requests from internal partners
Manage projects by identifying impacted business areas and key stakeholders, assign deliverables, manage target dates, and keep reporting manager apprised of challenges
Act as a liaison with business partners on special projects to keep work moving forward
Ad-hoc project work or other work as assigned
Requirements
Minimum 5-7 years with contract drafting and filing and/or life and health product development and/or compliance/insurance law experience
Thorough understanding of group and individual life and health products
Proficient with SERFF
Interacts directly with regulators, highly effective in communicating, negotiating, persuading regulators to obtain form approval
Handles the most complex state filing challenges with minimal assistance/guidance
Expert with all aspects of regulatory interpretation, contract construction and filings
Competent in assisting analysts in lower positions with assessing and responding to state objections
Strong results-orientation, with the desire and drive required to accomplish stated objectives
Ability to manage projects and work on multiple initiatives concurrently while producing quality work products
Highly collaborative, routinely seeking the right expertise across the team and Product organization

The salary range for this role is from $107,300.00 to $166,400.00.
