Deliver clinical, educational and administrative services under the direction of the Manager in accordance with PPSE Medical Standards and Guidelines and State and Federal Regulations
Perform patient intake: greet patients, check-in/registration, income and insurance verification, data entry, chart preparation, and client flow management
Cashiering and checkout: process payments (cash, check, credit/debit), enter charges, generate receipts, run daily cashier reports, balance cash drawer and prepare bank deposits
Provide counseling for pregnancy tests and options, HIV pre/post-test counseling, birth control education and first pelvic exam education; obtain informed consent and complete counseling notes
Prepare exam and procedure rooms, review medical history, assist with patient prep and exam procedures
Maintain lab and surgical instrument sterilization, operate autoclave, maintain quality control records, and ensure sterile technique for surgical procedures (depending on location)
Assist in surgical procedures: drape/prep patients, chaperone physician, support patients during procedures, help on/off procedure table, escort to recovery, prepare surgical tissue for refrigeration/pathology, disinfect rooms and handle contaminated items per protocol
Perform ultrasound examinations according to protocols, when applicable, and document in the medical record
Requirements
Associate degree preferred in health care, social services or related field or equivalency (Certification from an accredited Medical Assistant or Surgical Technician program and 3+ years of relevant experience)
2+ years of healthcare experience, preferably abortion care and family planning, women’s health, reproductive health or a surgical center
Preferred: 2+ years of experience in surgical abortions
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and counseling skills
Strong computer skills, including practice management software, MS Office, and Internet/email
Ability to handle stress in a calm and professional manner and manage multiple projects and deadlines
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Attention to detail and follow-through
Ability to lift 50 pounds
English required; Spanish skills required
Background screens will be performed and education will be verified prior to employment
