Business Development Rep

• Identify and pursue new business opportunities by researching and targeting potential clients in the crop insurance sector, including farmers, cooperatives, and agribusinesses.
• Generate leads through cold calling, networking, attending industry events, and leveraging referrals.
• Build and maintain a robust pipeline of prospective clients to meet or exceed sales targets.
• Develop and nurture strong relationships with clients to understand their insurance needs and provide tailored crop insurance solutions.
• Educate clients on crop insurance products, including multi-peril crop insurance (MPCI), crop-hail insurance, and supplemental coverage options.

Crop Business Developer – Northern Region

Executive

• Select, price, quote and review new & renewal business in accordance with company underwriting guidelines and experienced, underwriting judgment
• Independently work with wholesale distribution channels to appropriately select risks, evaluate, and recommend program structure, services, and pricing to achieve a balanced portfolio and long-term profitability.
• Identify, develop, and maintain strong business relationships to drive consistent opportunities for new business placement, as well as retain existing accounts.
• Specific experience or fundamental ability to present & defend book dynamics/profile in reinsurance treaty meetings.
• Utilize facultative relationships/capacity to maintain prescribed net positions with the Palomar E&S portfolio.
• Be well versed in underwriting Primary and Excess Construction and/or Excess Non-construction risks in the E&S space.
• Evaluate reinsurance requirements and implement appropriate action, including treaty adherence and facultative solutions.
• Assist in the mentoring/coaching of junior underwriters.
• Share industry specific knowledge with underwriters of all levels while performing as a technical underwriting resource.
• As a unit leader, set the example of expected performance by producing new business in addition to the required product management duties.
• Actively continue to improve personal knowledge and practices of the insurance industry through work experience, in-house instruction, insurance specific designations (e.g., CPCU), industry courses, home office seminars and workshops, etc.
• Assist in the Junior Underwriter mentoring process.

Executive Underwriter – Casualty Excess & Surplus

Actuary

• Design and enhance actuarial pricing models, tools, and methodologies to support informed underwriting decisions
• Perform account- and portfolio-level pricing analyses using actuarial techniques, rating plans, and loss experience—initially focused on Casualty, with opportunities to expand into other lines.
• Partner with Underwriting, Finance, Claims, and Reinsurance teams to evaluate programs, structure deals, and analyze portfolios—delivering clear insights and recommendations to stakeholders.
• Lead special initiatives such as onboarding new programs, improving models, and conducting ad hoc portfolio analyses to ensure rate adequacy and operational efficiency.
• Mentor junior analysts by sharing expertise, reviewing work, and supporting their development through the actuarial student program.
• Contribute to monitoring portfolio performance, profitability, and emerging trends to inform business decisions and product strategies.

Senior Actuarial Analyst

Full-stack Engineer

• Develop the claims platform.
• Build and maintain full-stack features for our claims processing platform using Node.js, TypeScript, Vue.js, HTML, and CSS — covering everything from back-end business logic and API design to the front-end interfaces that claims teams use day to day.
• Translate regulatory requirements into code.
• Read and interpret government publications, FCIC/RMA handbooks, Loss Adjustment Manuals, and third-party procedural documentation.

Accountant

• Process and record all crop insurance premium payments, overpayments, refunds, and billing adjustments with accuracy and timeliness
• Reconcile premium, liability, and indemnity activity across internal systems, AIP platforms, and RMA data to ensure financial accuracy
• Review and validate agent commission statements, research discrepancies and coordinate corrections with agents and internal teams
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and year end reconciliations, journal entries, and supporting schedules for financial close
• Monitor and track outstanding A/R and A/P items related to growers, agencies, and reinsurers; communicate status updates to internal stakeholders
• Assist with internal and external audits, including RMA compliance reviews, by gathering documentation and preparing required reports
