About the role
- Support underwriters in evaluating and processing commercial insurance applications for businesses
- Gather and review documentation to ensure submissions are complete and accurate
- Enter transaction information into underwriting/policy processing systems and record it for processing and document production
- Prepare quotes and process automated and manual transactions including new business, renewals, endorsements, audits, cancellations, and interim billings
- Manually rate transactions and perform calculations for transactions not fully automated; gather base rates and LCM from Reference Connect and other sources
- Assist with Bond tasks (new and renewal of POAs, Agency terminations, etc.)
- Monitor emails and assigned work for proper handling and access/record statistical information for reports
- Initiate and follow-up on correspondence with agents and other departments; organize and prioritize workload to meet timeframes
- Work with CSS, Underwriting Assistants, Team Support Technicians and Underwriters to resolve account or agency issues
- Participate in special projects and assist with training team members and new employees
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Minimum of one (1) years’ experience in a clerical support position, preferably in the property/casualty insurance industry
- Prior commercial lines rating experience preferred (Business Auto, Workers’ Compensation, Business Owners, Commercial Property, General Liability, Umbrella)
- Good PC skills, with an emphasis on Microsoft Office Suite
- Basic math skills and ability to perform manual rating and premium calculations
- Good proof-reading skills and attention to detail
- Good oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to access and enter information accurately using automated systems and policy processing systems
- Ability to hear and communicate via telephone and monitoring devices and to present information to individuals and groups
- Must be able to see and effectively use a computer monitor and operate general office equipment (ADA requirements)
- Candidate residency requirement: ideal candidates in Harrisburg PA, Pittsburgh PA, or Greensboro NC; only candidates from the following states will be considered: Alabama, Delaware, Iowa, Maryland, Minnesota, North Carolina, New Jersey, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, Wisconsin
