Understand and analyze business reports needed in underwriting processes, including credit checks, bank agreements, and financial statements
Responsible for risk selection/rejection, pricing, retention, growth, and profitability for branch office
Assess risk quality in compliance with company guidelines
Review underwriting of others and recommend extending surety credit including terms and conditions
Develop and maintain strategic relationships with internal and external stakeholders
Communicate effectively, deliver exceptional customer service, and make timely informed decisions
Operate with integrity and hold self and team accountable for objectives
Use independent judgment and initiative to support business goals
Coach and develop the underwriting team
Perform in-office work and travel within assigned territory
Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
Field of Study: Finance, Accounting or a related discipline
Generally, 9+ years of related experience
4 or more years of management experience
Progression toward certification preferred: Associate in Surety and Fidelity Bonding (AFSB), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Registered Professional Liability Underwriter (RPLU)
