Paralegal

• Provide the Joint Legal Services Department with a confidential, comprehensive and efficient paralegal service
• Support lawyers in their work representing the Chief Constables of Staffordshire and West Midlands Police forces
• Produce Court / Hearing bundles
• Conduct legal research
• Provide administrative support to the Lawyers (including some diary management)
• Liaise with Court officials, officers and external stakeholders
• Assist with obtaining instructions from officers and police staff
• Monitor the advice requests received and support the Lawyer(s) with any subsequent tasks
• Provide note and minute taking as required
• Prepare Brief/Instructions to external Counsel & negotiate rates (within agreed limits)
• Draft Court Orders & Court application forms
• Build and administrate workflows for the various teams using the Iken case management system
• Assist with cost recovery where required
• Maintain a record of key data for their team to include monitoring completed actions, outcomes and financial recording
• Maintain a record of cases applied for and outcomes using Iken workflows
• Support with case reviews as directed by the Senior/Principal Lawyers
• Support with financial recording systems
• Undertake other duties within their competence or otherwise appropriate to the grading of the post as and when required

Recruitment

• Proactively manage candidates through the pre-offer process and then onto their start date
• Attend & manage a variety of recruitment & onboarding events
• Respond to recruitment queries from candidates, hiring managers & stakeholders received through the portal, webchat and telephone
• Updating all required systems to provide a clear audit of where the candidate is in the process including but not limited to Oracle HR & Recruitment.
• Maintain an overview of your allocated campaign(s) to your Team Leader and colleagues.
• Act as a point of contact and build influential candidate relationships during the onboarding process
• Develop and maintain strong working relationships with internal stakeholders and customers
• Promote our values and reputation
• Deliver high level of quality of service at all times and against agreed service level agreements, governance, performance targets, audit controls, Force policy and statutory legislation.

Analyst

• Provide technical skills and knowledge that facilitate the security, integrity, availability and performance of the Force’s infrastructure software including.
• Provide technical skills and knowledge that facilitate the security, integrity, availability and performance of the Force’s data centres, data storage services, servers and back-ups;
• Provide technical skills and knowledge that facilitate the security, integrity, availability, and performance of the Force’s directory services infrastructure (e.g. Active Directory, PKI etc.);
• Provide technical skills and knowledge that facilitate the relevant incident, configuration, availability, capacity, continuity and release management in line with the ITIL framework;
• Provide and disseminate specialist/technical advice on issues relating to the department, interpreting or assessing customer needs and exercising judgement to make decisions when solutions are not obvious;
• To represent the force at local, and regional meetings as required;
• Have regular contact with various people within the Force and externally, in order to achieve desirable outcomes;
• Provide technical assistance to projects which are complex and significant in terms of time and financial resources coordinate the provision of assigned services within the department to ensure they meet the required quality levels;
• Interpret statistical data and advise management of trends;
• Provide a breadth of technical skills to support the following areas:
• Authentication and Directory technologies (e.g. IAM, Active Directory)
• Application and content delivery technologies (e.g. IIS, App-V, Intune)
• Enterprise Desktop and Mobile device configuration

Infrastructure Service Analyst

Compliance

• Advise & provide representation (including advocacy where required) in relation to legal proceedings and hearings before the relevant courts & tribunals.
• Operate at a strategic level, supporting the Principal Solicitor in providing leadership & direction to a team of lawyers and support staff within Joint Legal Services.
• Support the Principal Lawyer in accountability for budget spend and/or the financial oversight and accountability for their team, including delegation for settlement of claims and authorisation of expenditure on external costs.
• Support the strategic objectives of Joint Legal Services by leading upon delivery of objectives whilst identifying and managing any relevant risk.
• Provide timely legal advice, legal support and representation for both West Midlands Police and Staffordshire Police regarding operational matters and a wide range of other issues affecting the forces.
• Work with external legal services (including Counsel) where necessary in the most cost-effective manner.
• Identify and manage risk whilst ensuring that performance management of the team is adhered to.
• Allocation & delegation of work to the team.
• Work collaboratively with a variety of clients, colleagues and other stakeholders.
• Carry a complex case load providing advice & advocacy as required & draft legal documents.
• To carry out any other duties commensurate with the purpose and grading of the post that may from time to time be determined
