About the role
- Lead the Specialty Engineering organization within Sentinel Systems Engineering & Integration, reporting to the SE&I Integrated Product Team Lead
- Leadership over all areas within specialty engineering including Human Factors, Nuclear Hardness and Survivability, Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E3), System Safety, Parts, Materials, and Processes, Weapon System Configuration and Data Management, Reliability/Availability/Maintainability, Life Cycle Cost analysis, Liaison Engineering, and Mass Properties
- Management of specialty engineering work scope including planning, budgeting, and reporting
- Coordinate on specialty engineering topics across various integrated product teams (IPTs)
- Leadership and coordination on specialty engineering-focused internal and external stakeholder engagements (engineering review boards, customer sync meetings, formal working groups, etc.)
- Ensuring flowdown and satisfaction of requirements based on specialty engineering analyses
- Human-System integration and human suitability assessments for weapon system operations and maintenance tasks
- Provide design support and complete characterization/qualification testing for hostile nuclear environments; responsible for hostile environment verification & validation
- Provide oversight for E3 areas including EMI, EMC, HERO, and TEMPEST
- System and Range Safety assessment, reporting, and coordination
- Material assessments, specifications, approval, and corrosion prevention and control
- System Configuration Definition / Control and Project Engineering Data Management
- Conduct Reliability, Availability, and Maintainability assessment and Life Cycle Cost analysis
- Serve as liaison engineering and coordinate mass properties assessment
- Support program sustainment, development, production and deployment of hardware and system modifications for ICBM Systems
- Travel up to 50% and work on a 9/80 schedule
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) discipline with 10 years of progressive engineering experience
- Minimum of 5 years in leadership
- Active DoD Secret clearance, investigation must have been completed within last 5 years
- Parts, Materials and Process experience
- Willing to travel up to 50% of the time
- U.S. Citizenship is required for all positions with a government clearance and certain other restricted positions
- ICBM experience (preferred)
- Prior experience interfacing with USAF leadership personnel (preferred)
- Active DoD TS/SCI clearance (preferred)
- Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) experience (preferred)
- Experience leading the performance of tasks on schedule, at cost and achieving all requirements as either project lead, integrated program team or cost account manager (preferred)
- Demonstrated effectiveness in achieving results through managing people and understanding and management of internal processes and customer/supplier relationships (preferred)
- Strong understanding and broad application of engineering systems (engineering standards, configuration management, material review board, process control, tooling, facilities, software, etc.) (preferred)
- Strong oral and written communication skills, including demonstrated experience with high value customer presentations
- Demonstrated experience in making sound decisions in uncertain and difficult situations
- Strong sense of urgency and work ethic in ensuring engineering meets customer and program expectations in a timely and efficient manner
