About the role
- Manage all aspects of operation and maintenance of a large-scale agricultural drip irrigation system, including daily scheduling and operation of the system, routine maintenance, and preventative maintenance.
- Collaborate with the Netafim and customer agronomy teams to determine and execute the daily, weekly, and seasonal irrigation schedule.
- Oversee the injection of all nutrients, crop protection, and system maintenance compounds that will go through the irrigation system.
- Operate the system automation components, including controllers, telemetry units, control valves, and field-based sensors.
- Maintain an appropriate and secure inventory of spare parts to quickly execute the majority of repairs.
- Monitor levels of all nutrients, crop protection and system maintenance compounds, and interface with farm management staff to ensure on-time delivery of additional materials.
- Identify system repair requirements, deploy staff to execute necessary repairs and verify completion.
- Actively monitor the system for changes in performance that might indicate leaks, clogging or other changes to system performance; identify root cause and determine remedy.
- Maintain system performance logs and report weekly performance to Netafim and customer farm-management teams.
- Report any system failures or anticipated challenges that might interfere with constant operation to the project team.
- Quickly and appropriately respond to requests by the farm-operations team within service level constraints.
- Elevate issues that are more complex and are not easily solved or exceed budget.
- Ensure the highest quality workmanship of all irrigation staff and vendors, including adherence to all safety standards.
- Attend internal and external training on irrigation techniques and products offered by Netafim.
- Maintain site cleanliness, order, tools, equipment, and spare parts.
- Maintain best safety practices while on project sites and while executing day to day duties.
- Perform other duties as requested or assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, plant science, soil science or related field preferred.
- Prior experience installing or operating a large-scale agricultural drip irrigation system.
- Pesticide Application Permit or Certification, or willingness to obtain certification.
- Outstanding communication skills and the ability to interface with multiple functions.
- Thoughtful and effective communicator.
- Ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a diverse work group, as well as independently with minimal supervision.
- Attention to detail, quality orientation, and strong organizational skills.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Some travel may be required.
