Project Manager

• Working closely U.S. Forest Service partners to identify new projects related to forest health, wildfire risk reduction, community resilience, watershed improvement, ecosystem restoration, and recreation enhancement projects.
• Leading the advertisement, negotiation, and awarding of multiple contracts for services related to on-the-ground implementation of fuel reduction, commercial thinning, habitat restoration, critical access improvement, and community resiliency projects.
• Working directly with contractors, consultants, nonprofit organizations, partners, and the U.S. Forest Service to coordinate on-the-ground implementation of fuel reduction, commercial thinning, habitat restoration, critical access improvement, and community resiliency projects effectively and efficiently.
• Working with the U.S. Forest Service to help develop, modify, manage, and track Stewardship Agreements and Challenge Cost Share Agreements for new and existing stewardship projects.
• Supporting the expansion of the base of private and public-sector supporters and partners by actively pursuing funding opportunities, creating new development opportunities, and writing grants.
• Building and maintaining close and mutually beneficial relationships among the U.S. Forest Service, California NGO partners, and the NFF to implement effective community-based conservation partnerships.
• Strengthening the NFF ability to support on-the-ground restoration and recreation projects by supporting activities that reinforce existing collaborations and help build new partnerships.
• Maintaining a breadth of knowledge about current trends, emerging issues, policy interventions, and innovations in the field of conservation programming to enhance the NFF strategic efficacy.
• Serving as a point of contact for the NFF conservation activities in the Tahoe area.
• Assisting as necessary with the NFF program of work in the State of California, which may include the management of diverse, short-term projects.

Project Coordinator

Technician

• Assist with maintaining program databases that track key watershed restoration project information such as locations, treatments, and outcomes, across the NFF watershed portfolio, supporting data integrity and quality control.
• Provide input and analysis to support the ongoing refinement of NFF’s watershed impact metrics framework, in coordination with the Watershed Program Specialist and Enterprise Programs staff.
• Compile and help synthesize monitoring data from field teams and partners to support program reporting, grant deliverables, and internal learning products.
• Assist with preparing data summaries and visualizations that communicate program progress and outcomes to internal and external audiences.
• Help maintain spatial data layers in ArcGIS Online or similar platforms to support the tracking and assessment of watershed projects across the National Forest System.
• Maintain the Regulatory In-lieu Fee and Bank Information Tracking System (RIBITS) ledger for NFF’s Western Slope In-Lieu Fee Program, including credit transactions, project tracking entries, and required updates.
• Support financial tracking and accounting for the ILF Program, including reconciliation of fee receipts, project expenditures, and credit balances, in coordination with the Watershed Program Specialist and NFF Finance team.
• Prepare draft annual reports, monitoring summaries, and other regulatory documentation required under the ILF Program Instrument and associated permit conditions, for review and finalization by the Watershed Program Specialist.
• Assist in the preparation of project-related documents such as contracts, scopes of work, and task orders, for consultants and contractors engaged on ILF projects, under the direction of the Watershed Program Specialist.
• Maintain organized program records, correspondence files, and project tracking systems to ensure accurate and auditable program administration.
• Track policy developments related to Section 404/401 wetland and waters permitting, mitigation banking, and ILF programs, and flag relevant updates for the Watershed Program Specialist.
• Serve as a subject matter resource on watershed restoration methods, such as low-tech process-based restoration (LTPBR), meadow restoration, and riparian improvement, for NFF Field Coordinators and field staff implementing projects on National Forest System lands.
• Provide technical advice to field teams on project design, treatment selection, monitoring protocols, and implementation methods, drawing on watershed science expertise that complements the generalist knowledge of many field staff.
• Support field teams with review of project designs, contractor deliverables, monitoring plans, and related implementation documents to strengthen technical quality and alignment with NFF’s watershed restoration practice.
• Participate in field site visits at field team request as a technical resource, contributing to photo-documentation, data collection, and quality assurance of on-the-ground restoration activities.
• Support field teams with grant and partner reporting by synthesizing technical data, monitoring results, and programmatic inputs across multiple projects and regions.
• Help surface and share lessons learned across NFF’s watershed restoration portfolio, bringing a cross-regional perspective to inform field decision-making and troubleshoot common challenges.
• Build and maintain working relationships with U.S. Forest Service staff, conservation NGO partners, state agencies, tribal partners, and other stakeholders in support of, rather than replacement of, field team-led partnerships, in coordination with the Watershed Program Specialist.

Watershed Technician

• Coordinate with the U.S. Forest Service and partners to implement scopes of work for large-scale forest health, hazardous fuels, and watershed protection activities.
• Plan, facilitate and lead multi-stakeholder and partner meetings and field trips.
• Lead the advertisement, negotiation, and awarding of contracts for project implementation and necessary resource surveys, such wildlife, soil, or hydrologic surveys.
• Work directly with contractors, consultants, nonprofit organizations, and agency partners to coordinate the on-the-ground implementation of projects effectively and efficiently.
• Manage projects through their full life cycle, including initiation, planning, scheduling, budget tracking, contract administration, quality assurance, safety coordination, and closeout.
• Serve as the NFF’s on-the-ground point of contact for daily project management needs associated with assigned MBRTB projects.
• Manage service agreements, invoices, and finances for relevant MBRTB projects.
• Work with the U.S. Forest Service to help develop, modify, manage, and track Stewardship Agreements, Participating Agreements, and Challenge Cost Share Agreements associated with projects.
• Work with NFF staff to secure funding from government sources, foundations, corporations, and individuals to support project preparation, implementation, and oversight.
• Manage grant budgets, deliverables, and reporting for federal, state, local, corporate, foundation, and individual funding sources.
• Communicate project needs, community benefits, implementation progress, and accomplishments to partners, funders, and internal NFF team members.
• Maintain ongoing communication with partners regarding project planning, implementation status, and project successes.
• Maintain a breadth of knowledge about current trends, emerging issues, policy interventions, and innovations in the field of conservation to enhance NFF strategies.
• Serve as a point of contact for the NFF conservation activities on and near the MBRTB.
• Work closely with the Rocky Mountain Region Program Manager to develop and expand the NFF’s scope of work on the MBRTB.
• Develop and maintain partnerships with LaVA cooperators and other organizations to enhance fundraising and project implementation efforts.
• Convene stakeholders across Wyoming and Colorado to facilitate partner collaboration.
• Assist with other Rocky Mountain Region priorities as needed, including diverse short-term projects and an expanding scope of work on the Shoshone National Forest.

Marketing

• Lead the development of an integrated local/national field marketing strategy in close collaboration with the Director of Marketing.
• Manage, mentor and develop field marketing team members.
• Set and track KPIs for field marketing, and report progress and insights to the Director of Marketing and other stakeholders.
• Serve as an additional liaison to the advancement team, supporting local activations and national storytelling.
• Identify recurring needs and gaps across field teams and spearhead development of scalable resources including toolkits, DIY guides and how-to templates.
• Intake, triage and prioritize marketing support requests from field teams.
• Develop creative briefs and capture and elevate compelling stories, photos, video and community moments in the field.

Field Marketing Manager

• Serve as a member of a National Enterprise Program to assist in the development of best practices and deepen expertise in reforestation to provide guidance and support to NFF Field Teams and position NFF as a recognized thought leader in reforestation efforts.
• Work closely with the U.S. Forest Service, and NFF Reforestation and Eastern-based field teams to develop and expand the NFF’s scope of reforestation work and activities related to oak ecosystem management.
• Support the completion of forest integrity assessments within defined project timelines and summarize baseline conditions through data analysis and reporting.
• Develop or contribute to reports that summarize baseline conditions, restoration needs, and project outcomes.
• In close coordination with the Forest Service, utilize technology, data visualization tools, and mapping platforms to support implementation actions, plans, and restoration strategy for forest establishment and improvement efforts.
• Coordinate implementation of restoration activities including scheduling, partner coordination, and planning meetings across project lifecycles.
• In geographic areas where there are no local NFF Field staff, remotely coordinate projects through their full life cycle, including procurement, contracting, and budgeting related to project implementation and coordination with various partners.
• Stay abreast of oak restoration scientific advances and policy trends and incorporate and communicate those throughout this work.
• Work with the NFF Marketing and Advancement teams to develop engaging storytelling content that enhances awareness and supports fundraising efforts for oak restoration in the Southern Tier Landscape.
• Build and maintain close and mutually beneficial relationships and coordinate participation in regional meetings and collaborative efforts with federal, state, tribal, nonprofit, and private-sector partners.

Restoration Technician

Program Coordinator

• Support the Southern Appalachians Program Manager in developing NFF’s role in the Southern Appalachians subregion in alignment with the U.S. Forest Service and local partners, with potential elements including partnerships and communications; planning and consultation; project design and implementation; monitoring; and development of both immediate and long-term funding mechanisms.
• Coordinate budgets and reporting associated with grants from federal, state, and local government sources, as well as philanthropic support from corporations, foundations, and individuals.
• Prepare associated grant and funding reports.
• Work with the Southern Appalachian Program Manager and the U.S. Forest Service to help manage and track cooperative agreements and their associated project budgets and timelines.
• Work with NFF staff to communicate project needs and the community benefits and accomplishments internally, to invested stakeholders, to the general public, and other relevant audiences.
• Build and maintain close and mutually beneficial relationships among federal and state agency partners, local government, Tribal nations, and indigenous communities, nonprofit organizations, and the NFF to implement effective community-based conservation partnerships.
• Advance a variety of projects as an implementation partner, including but not limited to fuels and vegetation management, reforestation, outdoor recreation, watershed resiliency, and other conservation projects across the Southern Appalachians.
• Support the advertising, negotiation, awarding, and invoicing of multiple contracts for services related to the on-the-ground implementation of conservation projects.
• Work directly with contractors, consultants, nonprofit organizations, and agency partners to coordinate the on-the-ground project implementation effectively and efficiently.

Program Coordinator, Southern Appalachians

Administrative Assistant

• Provide high-level administrative support to the CAO, including managing an extremely active calendar of appointments, scheduling meetings, and coordinating travel arrangements.
• Assist Executive Assistant to the CEO/President in organizing 4 Board Meetings per year.
• Assist in coordinating meeting logistics (room setup, catering, technology, manage RSVPs, etc.) in advance of two in-person Board meetings.
• Operate as staff lead for the Ambassador Council meeting to provide coordination and communication with Council, NFF President & CEO, and Chief Advancement Officer in cultivating and managing Council prospects.
