About the role
- Act as Lead System Field Engineer on projects or system upgrades; direct and mentor assigned project STs.
- Post-sale implementation of voice and data communications systems for Federal DoD.
- Provide technical support on specialized telecommunications systems and public safety product applications.
- Perform system configuration, programming, optimization, testing, and documentation tasks.
- Advanced troubleshooting of software-driven electronics, provisioning of communication system infrastructure, and performance optimization of RF and Broadband architecture including legacy analog, advanced digital P25, and data infrastructure.
- Maintain, optimize, test, support and document complex mission critical communications systems.
- Perform preventative maintenance routines with focus on trend analysis and documentation of results.
- Provide weekly reports of activities and accomplishments.
- Develop solutions to difficult technical problems encountered during maintenance, upgrades or support issues.
- Team with Engineering, Project Management, and Sales to meet customer expectations.
- Work with other Field Engineers, Tech Support, Product Groups to characterize system defects.
- Perform maintenance of server hardware/OS and software infrastructure and troubleshoot system/application issues.
- Solve customer problems quickly during stressful situations.
- Extensive work travel required (up to 85%); willing to work overtime, weekends, holidays, and varying schedules.
- Position subject to CJIS fingerprint background check and secure work environment requirements.
Requirements
- Must be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain necessary security clearance as required by government contract.
- Must possess a current and valid driver’s license, no traffic violations, and have a clean driving record.
- 2 year Associates in Electronics or IT preferred.
- CompTIA Security+ or must be able to obtain it within the 1st year of employment.
- Must be willing to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance.
- Must be willing to obtain a DHS Public Trust Clearance.
- High School Diploma/GED.
- 2+ years experience in one of the following: LMR, RF systems, Radio Communications, Radio Frequency, Wired/Wireless Communication Systems, IT Systems, Military, Motorola products or Networking equipment.
- Minimum of 6 years of related experience with Motorola Base Stations (GTR series, Desktop, etc.), Dispatch Consoles (MCC7500, MCC7500E), T1 Circuits and MPLS Circuits, Computer IP Networks and Configuration.
- Very strong knowledge of wired communications systems, such as local area networks (LAN) and wide-area networks (WAN).
- Proficient in computer network installation, configuration, and maintenance systems to include cabling, routers, switches, firewalls, and bridges.
- Experience with R.F. interfaces and systems such as transmitters, receivers, and antenna networks.
- Knowledge in standard telephony, dedicated data circuits, and packet switching techniques.
- Experience with logging recording systems, RF interfaces, wired/wireless communications systems, and networking equipment.
- Excellent communications skills and professional image.
- Strong self-management skills and "people" skills to work closely with customers and subcontractor community as well as internal teams.
- Experience using communications test equipment: Communication System Analyzers, Ethernet Link test sets, T1 Test Sets, TIMS, Digital RF Power Meter, Motorola Conventional, SmartNet, MCC Console systems, Secure Operations and ASTRO A7.x - A20.x.
