About the role
- Assist with development and modernization of Government systems, sub-systems, and components through engineering integrations.
- Assist with development and modernization of Government Networks via Software defined capability or similar engineering integrations.
- Support improvement of WAN/LAN posture leading architecture research and design in support of current and future Naval Requirements.
- Provide engineering change support to the In-Service Engineering Activity team via on-site services on equipment/systems to perform Cisco-based troubleshooting, identification of root cause and correction of other system-specific faults and failures.
- Participate in numerous Network integration and testing support events within Government test facilities in support of system interoperability.
- Perform technical document reviews and participate in technical working groups.
- Configure Cisco C3850 and C9300 series switches, including Layer-2 and Layer-3 switch configurations.
- Maintain port security on all network devices and coordinate with local lab system administrators with deployment of new computers, VoIP, dVTC and sVTC devices.
- Configure and maintain Palo Alto (PA-850) firewalls, including V-wire and Layer-3 creation and maintenance of objects, zones, and policy rules.
- Configure and maintain TACLANE (KG175 series) devices, including network configuration, peer routes, and keying devices.
- Liaison to local lab managers and system administrators on the installation of the RDT&E network to include hardware purchase, baseline configuration, local system administration responsibilities and duties to maintain system compliance.
- Liaison to local and Chief Engineers on testing and integration plans via Naval Fleet requirements.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience in DoD or other Government Unclassified and Classified Systems/Networks, Cisco Routing and Switching, Network Engineering, Network Testing, and Implementation Planning.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage and prioritize tasks and ensure optimum productivity.
- Ability to work with Network related hardware and software.
- Ability to conduct research on Cisco or other related Network hardware components.
- Ability to conduct testing and regression testing on Government facilities.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office Suite Products, and PC hardware architecture.
- Strong leadership, interpersonal, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively, independently, and to take initiative.
- Ability to quickly grasp and implement technical concepts.
- Ability to work well with other Engineering focus groups and personnel ranging from Junior to Chief Network, Systems, or Cyber Engineers.
- Network Engineering experience with ADNS, CANES, or CaaS is preferred.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field of study.
- Candidate must possess or have the ability to obtain an active Secret security clearance or higher.
- Clearance will be sponsored for the right candidate.
- DoD 8570 IAT Level II - Security+ (or equivalent) and CCNA; CCNP is preferred.
