About the role
- Provide legal support to various business stakeholders on a variety of cutting-edge legal issues
- Work cross-functionally with Procurement, Operations, Product, and Engineering to drive corporate and commercial transactions
- Strategize, draft, and negotiate a wide variety of commercial and technology agreements in support of day-to-day business and strategic transactions
- Develop strategic business relationships with vendors
- Review, draft, and negotiate commercial agreements to support Motional’s global procurement organization
- Stay current on applicable laws, rules, regulations, regulatory guidance, and industry codes, especially concerning AV law
- Advise on technology development agreements, supply agreements for goods and services, software licenses, and business partnership agreements
- Report directly to Motional’s General Counsel and support Legal team initiatives
Requirements
- Juris Doctor with a current license to practice in Pennsylvania or Massachusetts
- Minimum of 3+ years experience in commercial contracting and providing legal counsel
- Experience reviewing, drafting, and negotiating a variety of commercial agreements
- Experience handling commercial contract disputes (familiarity with supply chain matters is a plus)
- Experience providing legal support and eagerness to partner with various business functions including HR, benefits, finance, and corporate strategy
- Ability to collaborate effectively with engineers and outside counsel
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Strong organizational and project management skills; ability to prioritize and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Ability and willingness to work across time zones and comfortable with occasional travel
- Self-motivated; able to work independently and with others
- Experience with autonomous vehicles, vehicle fleets, or on-demand mobility or delivery platforms is a plus
- Working knowledge of privacy and cybersecurity is a plus
