About the role
- Designing and building automated queries, scripts, and dashboards (using SQL, BigQuery, and Looker) to provide continuous monitoring of material risks and controls, with ongoing validation to ensure accuracy and effectiveness.
- Creating reusable code and automation frameworks to embed analytics into control testing, with opportunities to explore advanced techniques (including AI) to further improve efficiency and scalability.
- Leading the data analytics elements of ad-hoc, targeted reviews of specific risks or control themes, surfacing insights that strengthen assurance and inform senior decision-making.
- Ensuring control gaps identified through analytics are agreed with stakeholders and recorded.
- Collaborating across risk, audit, and business teams to ensure transparency, strengthen accountability, and embed a culture of proactive assurance.
Requirements
- You have experience in regulated financial services, professional services, or high-growth tech, with a strong focus on control assurance and data-driven risk management.
- You are highly skilled in SQL (Looker and BigQuery experience is a plus, but not essential).
- You have designed and built data analytics solutions for control testing, turning requirements into repeatable, automated approaches and continuous monitoring solutions.
- You are an analytical thinker who simplifies complexity, identifies systemic issues, and clearly communicates insights to business senior management.
- You thrive in fast-paced, evolving environments — resilient, proactive, and motivated to help Monzo scale safely and sustainably.
- You have hands-on experience with GitHub and automating data pipelines into BigQuery (desirable but not essential).
- You are immediately available or have a notice period of 1 month or less (As this is a fixed-term position, we’ll be prioritising applicants who are available to start in 4 weeks or less).
