About the role
- Serve as Technical Manager, Technical Lead and/or Advisor for local and/or regional projects
- Provide technical leadership and guidance on complex and/or strategic projects across the region
- Assist with preparation of scope of work and fee proposals in their specialty subject matter area
- Assist Department Managers, Office Executives, and Regional Practice Leads on major or strategic pursuits, lending technical credibility/expertise to the pursuit team
- Support current clients to expand BIM/Digital Delivery services
- Stay knowledgeable of industry trends and current standards and specifications developments within specific technical areas
- Support growth within new markets related to BIM for Infrastructure services
- Support maintaining Michael Baker International’s industry recognition as an organizational leader within BIM for Infrastructure
- Support development of tools and processes to provide clients services to pass design and construction information to asset inventories/management as part of a digital As-builts process to support operations and asset management
- Collaborate with department managers and project managers regarding technical resources for project staffing assignments and execution in complex technical areas
- Serve as a key project resource interfacing with clients and internal staff to assist project managers with providing a high-quality product that meets the schedule and maintains client satisfaction
- Monitor QA/QC procedures and client requirements for Quality in coordination with the appropriate members of the quality assurance team; enable clients to perform model-based QA/QC
- Help develop technical execution and quality work standards, tools and Best Practices across the company in the area of BIM and digital delivery for Highways
- Build and maintain effective and enduring relationships across Michael Baker offices, regions, and external organizations to advance technical excellence
- Provide technical leadership in a specialty subject matter area and serve in leadership for technical working groups
- Provide leadership and direction by coaching, mentoring, and motivating staff; identify and support upskilling talent
- Maintain awareness of digital delivery technology developments and present to relevant conferences/meetings
- Actively participate in internal and external professional development activities such as technical committees for trade organizations and industry standards development efforts
- Work closely with and report to the Regional Transportation Practice Leader to prioritize responsibilities and promote collaborative excellence
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
- Minimum 10+ years of highway engineering related design experience
- Minimum 5+ years of technical experience in the area of BIM and digital delivery
- Must possess a valid Professional Engineering License
- Have the skills to perform QC Oversight responsibilities, including understanding of the technical process, design and data requirements needed to provide those quality reviews
- Must understand data standardization as it relates to exchange information requirements leveraging common data standards (ie OGC, IFC, etc) to mature CAD to GIS workflows into openBIM workflows
- Solid communication and relationship building skills, both internally and externally, to support change management while improving processes, leveraging technology, and supporting clients
- Ability to leverage technical expertise, existing connections and/or client relationships to help lead the identification of new opportunities to support winning new work
- Ability to effectively network and influence at peer levels
- Ability to coach, mentor and upskill technical capabilities of less experienced staff
- Ability to demonstrate a strong commitment to adhering to scope, schedules and budgets
- Strong background in ownership, initiative and dedication to high quality engineering services and client deliverables
