About the role

  • Metal fabrication operation; major player in casting and machining with $200M revenue and 1,300 employees
  • Production orders booked out for a year; markets include defense and aerospace; division is an investment casting foundry with 120 team members; certifications include AS9100, ISO 9001, Nadcap, and ASNT Levels II & III
  • Report to the CI Manager; no visa sponsorship available at any time
  • Manage new part tooling needs and requests for investment cast tool fabrication and tool modifications; responsible for tool build schedule and validation for defense, aerospace, commercial, energy and petrochemical customers
  • Work collaboratively with Customers, Engineering, Operations, Sales and tooling vendors to coordinate design and release of tooling to production
  • Coordinate tooling maintenance and improvement activities; manage tooling revision levels via tool database
  • Monitor tooling performance, identify and execute corrective actions, and verify effectiveness using quantitative and statistical tools
  • Directly support production for tooling maintenance including diagnosis, replacement of wear items and in-house modifications
  • Subject Matter Expert for dimensional inspection; develop inspection plans, maintain calibration requirements and program CMM and Laser Scanner
  • Support continuous improvement and improved plant profitability

Requirements

  • 5+ years’ experience in design of tooling for metal or plastic processes
  • BS Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent; an associate’s degree with excellent experience will be considered with additional experience
  • Having strong organizational skills with a passion to meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated competency utilizing CAD software (SolidWorks preferable)
  • Experience with software for GD&T, casting simulation & modeling is desired
