About the role
- Michael Baker International is a provider of architectural, engineering and consulting services with a National Geospatial Practice.
- GIS Specialist role working dominantly in the Esri environment, overseeing QA/QC processes and supporting the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
- Support several existing projects performing technical GIS tasks and implement Esri solutions.
- Work directly with Geospatial Project Managers and Technical Managers and assist on numerous GIS projects.
- Collaborate with business unit SMEs, business analysts, developers, vendors, and end users in cross-functional teams.
- Manage multiple tasks concurrently as a self-starter.
- Influence stakeholders by making recommendations regarding scope, user stories and product design and provide client feedback to advance the practice.
- Develop effective QA/QC workflows and produce documentation artifacts (TRDs, User Stories, Process workflows, Technical Documentation, Training Manuals).
- Design testing plans and produce testing artifacts (test scenarios, user cases, test plan documents).
- Perform quality control procedures on deliverables and prepare and present technical information to team members and management.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in related field.
- 6-8 years of experience with geographic concepts and GIS software.
- GISP certification preferred but not required.
- Strong understanding of the software development life cycle and Agile methodologies.
- Proficiency in SCRUM methodologies and activities preferred.
- Experience creating and configuring web apps and web pages within ArcGIS Enterprise Portal and/or ArcGIS Online (Experience Builder, Dashboards, Survey123 Connect, Field Maps).
- Proven experience using and developing solutions with ArcGIS Pro.
- Proficient in testing desktop and web applications, APIs, REST services, database systems, and full stack cloud native applications.
- Proven experience in Python scripting.
- Esri Roads & Highways experience preferred.
- Familiarity with Jira for task tracking and Confluence for documentation.
- Creative problem-solving, organizational skills, and solid understanding of GIS projects, processes, and execution.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with teams across the company.
- Demonstrated experience working in fast paced and dynamic teams.
- Self-motivated to stay informed on geospatial technology advancements and pursue certifications.
- Technical writing experience and interest is a plus.
- Strong written and verbal communications skills.
- Proven work history, strong work ethic, responsiveness, accountability, and a team-player attitude are a must.
- Must have high speed internet and suitable workspace to work remotely.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen for this role.
