Support Engineer

• Investigate reported fleet issues for root cause, track and categorize common issues, and escalate when necessary to the Autonomy Software Engineering teams, which includes extensive reviewing of logged events from our Autonomous vehicles
• Help build the company’s knowledge base for site staff and other Autonomy Support Engineers
• Curate and manage datasets for Autonomy software development
• Analyze testing data to assist in Autonomy software development
• Aid in early autonomy software testing through simulation scenario development
• Provide insights and patterns for cases that are preventing autonomy and escalate as necessary
• Plan and create simulation scenarios that test for improved behavior with an emphasis on effective and efficient test plans
• Analyze and report simulation test outcomes, providing high quality and meaningful data analysis to assist in identifying software progressions and regressions
• Learn the self driving system (autonomous system functionality, subsystem behavior, error messages, etc.)
• Identify issues with tooling and suggest and implement process improvements
• Develop a comprehensive understanding of how to effectively identify suboptimal vehicle behavior utilizing logs collected by the Fleet and Testing teams

Senior Autonomy Support Engineer

Operations

• Ensure that operations follow rigorous safety guidelines; continuously develop a culture of safety that is beyond reproach
• Design and lead the implementation of scalable operational frameworks, protocols, and advanced performance reporting across multiple locations to systematically improve outcomes.
• Cultivate a high-performance, inclusive work environment, embody May Mobility values, and mentor and develop emerging leaders to establish a robust talent pipeline.
• Responsible for meeting financial goals and aligning spending with the operating budget across sites
• Ensure exceptional service for both customers and passengers
• Escalate technical and operational issues and advocate for safe solutions for sites

• Be a technical thought leader to champion May Mobility’s mission, vision, values and company priorities to develop and execute autonomy strategy with fellow executives and engineering leaders.
• Work cross-functionally with Vehicle Engineering, Product, and Operations leaders to solve and deploy solutions to autonomy perception challenges.
• Deliver innovative and robust advances to May’s perception technology including measurable improvements to object detection, classification, tracking, and prediction.
• Ensure May’s core perception technologies operate efficiently and effectively in commercial deployments, including supporting effective triage and resolution of issues related to this technology.
• Maintain an understanding of related research fields including machine learning, end-to-end learned systems, tracking systems, multi-sensor fusion, and behavior prediction.
• Lead design and specification of next-generation sensor suites to maximize May’s perception system performance and optimize cost. Work with systems and hardware teams to support prototyping and evaluating future systems.
• Develop and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) to track autonomy performance
• Identify key gaps and challenges in May’s autonomy perception technology.
• Construct and execute a roadmap to solve key challenges and work with other autonomy leaders to synchronize this roadmap with the roadmaps of other functions.

• Work cross-functionally with Vehicle Engineering; Software, Data and Infrastructure; and Operations leaders to solve and deploy solutions to autonomy challenges.
• Deliver innovative and robust advances to May’s MPDM technology including faster execution, more accurate MPDM simulations, effective reward functions, improved and expressive policies, compatible and stable control algorithms and any other technological aspect required to advance MPDM, May’s core technology.
• Ensure May’s core MPDM technologies operate efficiently and effectively in commercial deployments, including supporting effective triage and resolution of issues related to this technology.
• Maintain an understanding of related research fields including planning, automated decision making, and various machine learning techniques such as reinforcement learning.
• Develop and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) to track autonomy performance
• Identify key gaps and challenges in May’s autonomy technology including MPDM and control algorithms.
• Construct and execute a roadmap to solve key challenges and work with other autonomy leaders to synchronize this roadmap with the roadmaps of other functions.
