Manager

• Responsible for the daily operation of the lab: staffing, workflow, quality, safety, and regulatory compliance.
• Provides daily management and strategic direction for the laboratories.
• Ensures compliance with all relevant regulatory agencies, including CAP, JC, OSHA, and CLIA.
• Develops and maintains QA systems to ensure a high level of performance and effective remedial actions to address deviations from performance specifications.
• Assigns, monitors, and supervises work to ensure compliance with laboratory SOPs and applicable federal, state, and regulatory agencies' requirements, including health/safety and patient confidentiality.
• Ensures the laboratory is prepared for all regulatory reviews and inspections including Joint Commission and FACT.
• Oversees coordination of clinical trials with principal investigators, study coordinators, quality assurance and compliance.
• Conducts interviews and recommends candidates for hiring in accordance with departmental policies to ensure adequate staffing for the laboratory.

Medical Billing and Coding

• Assign appropriate diagnosis codes (ICD-10) and procedure codes (CPT/HCPCS) to patient encounters
• Ensure compliance with coding guidelines, including those outlined by the AMA, CMS, and other regulatory bodies
• Analyze medical records to extract pertinent information for coding purposes
• Maintain a high level of accuracy and quality in coding assignments
• Utilize coding software, encoders, and electronic health record systems
• Support coding compliance efforts by participating in coding audits and internal or external coding reviews

Director

• The Administrative Director works closely with the Vice President, Pathology, and Vice Chair, Pathology Research in overseeing the entire MGB Pathology Research enterprise.
• Works with leadership to set the administrative direction (i.e., organization structure, policies and procedures, systems, etc.).
• Co-leads efforts for Research Strategic Planning and resource prioritization.
• Collaborate closely with Pathology leadership, physicians, scientists and MGB Research leadership to continually assess and direct a wide range of research issues, including: financial, personnel, operational, regulatory, facilities, systems, programmatic development, long-range planning and project development for the organization.
• Evaluate departmental research organization support structure and make recommendations for change based on overall effectiveness, efficiency, equity, and resource availability.
• Develop performance metrics and participate in benchmarking within and outside of MGB.
• Manage all phases of research grant and contract administration, including personnel management and staff training/development.
• Provide oversight of departmental symposia and visits/lectures by outside researchers through administrative team.
• Supervise the budgetary process, including review and approval of funding requests.

• Oversees the day-to-day administrative performance of secretarial and clinical support staff
• Evaluates daily staffing needs and coordinates replacement of staff
• Performs hiring, orientation, and evaluation of staff
• Assists in the career development of practice employees through ongoing coaching, counseling, and training
• Ensures that all mandatory training is completed by staff
• Evaluates, develops, and implements administrative systems and procedures designed to maximize practice operations
• Collaborates with practice leaders on the preparation of the practice's annual budgets

• Assist patients in reaching maximum physical performance while adjusting to disabilities
• Restores Patient Physical Functioning by interpreting physical therapy evaluations and test results
