About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- The Administrative Director works closely with the Vice President, Pathology, and Vice Chair, Pathology Research in overseeing the entire MGB Pathology Research enterprise.
- Works with leadership to set the administrative direction (i.e., organization structure, policies and procedures, systems, etc.).
- Co-leads efforts for Research Strategic Planning and resource prioritization.
- Collaborate closely with Pathology leadership, physicians, scientists and MGB Research leadership to continually assess and direct a wide range of research issues, including: financial, personnel, operational, regulatory, facilities, systems, programmatic development, long-range planning and project development for the organization.
- Evaluate departmental research organization support structure and make recommendations for change based on overall effectiveness, efficiency, equity, and resource availability.
- Develop performance metrics and participate in benchmarking within and outside of MGB.
- Manage all phases of research grant and contract administration, including personnel management and staff training/development.
- Provide oversight of departmental symposia and visits/lectures by outside researchers through administrative team.
- Supervise the budgetary process, including review and approval of funding requests.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's Degree Finance required or Bachelor's Degree Business Administration required or Master's Degree Business Administration preferred
- 3-5 years of Research Administration experience required
- 1-2 years of Professional staff supervision experience required
- Extensive knowledge regarding research financial, operational, business planning and project management, grant management, sponsor and institutional guidelines and requirements, etc.
- Ability to develop a common vision for stakeholders, communicate effectively, sell ideas, and take ownership and responsibility for activities.
- Effective financial and analytical skills, including ability to develop and monitor budgets, grant and contract management.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and proven ability to communicate complex material.
