Engineer

• Collaborate with team with structural analysis and/or design of bridges (including steel beam, prestressed concrete beam, concrete slab, pedestrian bridges, culverts, retaining walls, grade separations, stream crossings, bridge hydraulic analysis, bridge rehabilitations, bridge feasibility studies, bridge structure type studies, bridge load ratings, railroad bridges, and design-build pursuits).
• Prepare drawings, plans, and technical specifications for bridge and roadway projects.
• Conduct load ratings and structural evaluations of existing bridges.
• Support field inspections and data collection efforts.
• Collaborate with senior engineers and project teams to solve engineering challenges.
• Ensure designs comply with local, state, and federal standards and regulations.
• Contribute to project documentation, including reports, calculations, and cost estimates.

Entry-level Structural Bridge Engineer

Civil Engineer

• Independently perform structural analysis and calculations for structural systems, including superstructures, foundations, and floor slabs.
• Serve as a technical expert for seismic design within the Buildings Practice, guiding project teams on design approaches in high-seismic zones.
• Define, document, and promote best practices and internal standards for seismic structural design and detailing.
• Validate technical requirements and deliverables for projects involving high-seismic performance.
• Conduct quality reviews of design documents and drawings to ensure technical accuracy and code compliance.
• Assist in the development and delivery of in-house training materials focused on seismic design for structural engineers.
• Mentor junior staff and contribute to the development of design tools and technical resources.
• Support business development and client engagement efforts by participating in design-phase meetings and technical discussions.
• Identify areas for procedural improvement and recommend updates to internal design processes and tools.
• Communicate clearly about seismic behavior and common design challenges, helping to raise the firm's overall seismic knowledge base.

Seismic SME – Structural Engineer

• Independently perform structural analysis and calculations for structural systems, including superstructures, foundations, and floor slabs.
• Serve as a technical expert for seismic design within the Buildings Practice, guiding project teams on design approaches in high-seismic zones.
• Define, document, and promote best practices and internal standards for seismic structural design and detailing.
• Validate technical requirements and deliverables for projects involving high-seismic performance.
• Conduct quality reviews of design documents and drawings to ensure technical accuracy and code compliance.
• Assist in the development and delivery of in-house training materials focused on seismic design for structural engineers.
• Mentor junior staff and contribute to the development of design tools and technical resources.
• Support business development and client engagement efforts by participating in design-phase meetings and technical discussions.

Mechanical Engineer

• Responsible for scope, fees, and the profitability of individual projects as well as a portfolio of projects
• Point person and firm's contact with clients while functioning as project manager
• Assists in new sales with clients for which they are managing projects
• Guides and coordinates all internal LJB transportation disciplines, with sub-consultants, and clients
• Responsible for the nine knowledge areas associated with each phase of the project they are managing

Roadway Design Engineer – Project Manager

• Responsible for scope, fees, and the profitability of individual projects as well as a portfolio of projects
• Point person and firms contact with clients while functioning as project manager
• Assists in new sales with clients for which they are managing projects
• Guides and coordinates all internal LJB transportation disciplines, with sub-consultants, and clients
• Responsible for the nine knowledge areas, according to the Project Management Institute (PMI)
• Responsible for assisting the Deputy Operations Manager in maintaining PM best practices
• Apprise Deputy Operations Manager of employee performance on particular projects
• Assist in informal development of other employees

• Assists in new sales with clients for which they are managing projects.
• Guides and coordinates all internal LJB transportation disciplines, with sub-consultants, and clients.

• Provide information to Deputy Operations Manager on future projects.

Project Manager

• Responsible for management, scope, fees, and profitability of individual projects and project portfolio
• Point person and firm's contact with clients while functioning as project manager
• Assists in new sales with clients for which they are managing projects
• Guides and coordinates internal LJB transportation disciplines with sub-consultants and clients
• Experience managing multidisciplinary teams
• Responsible for assisting Deputy Operations Manager in maintaining PM best practices
• Apprise Operations Management of employee performance on projects

Structural Bridge Engineer, Project Manager

• Perform engineering design tasks for bridge projects from preliminary to final design
• Develop specifications, cost estimates, and prepare final bid packages
• Have established working relationships and contact with client technical staff and project managers, especially in DOT and local governments
• Provide engineering design services for traditional design-bid-build projects and design-build bridge projects
• Mentor and assist junior engineers in developing final design plans
• Coordinate design activities and meetings between design staff, subcontractors, and client managers
• Participate in project decisions regarding technical approaches, cost, and scheduling performance
• Identify schedule and cost variances and develop and implement recommendations for corrective action
• Participate in projects by completing tasks within schedule and budget with teams comprised of different disciplines
• Actively participate and serve in leadership positions in transportation related organizations such as ASHE, ASCE, NCSEA, etc.

Structural Bridge Engineer – SME

• Responsible for management, scope, fees, and the profitability of individual projects and project portfolio
• Point person and firms contact with clients while functioning as project manager
• Assists in new sales with clients for which they are managing projects
• Guides and coordinates internal LJB transportation disciplines with sub-consultants and clients
• Experience managing multidisciplinary teams
• Possesses understanding of all transportation disciplines and requirements as related to bridge design projects
• Responsible for assisting Deputy Operations Manager in maintaining PM best practices.
• May or may not be involved directly in the design on larger projects
• Apprise Operations Management of employee performance on projects
• Provide information to Deputy Operations Manager on future projects so they can manage staffing
• Assist in informal development of other employees
• Other duties as assigned.
