About the role
- Work within a Claims Team using technology to manage an assigned caseload of routine to moderately complex claims from investigation through resolution
- Make decisions about liability/compensability, evaluate losses, and negotiate settlements
- Interact with claimants, policyholders, appraisers, attorneys, and other third parties throughout claim management
- Establish an action plan based on case facts, best practices, protocols, regulatory issues and available resources
- Plan and conduct investigations to confirm coverage and determine liability, compensability and damages
- Assess policy coverage, establish and adjust reserves, and refer claims to subrogation or Special Investigations Unit as appropriate
- Assess actual damages and conduct negotiations within assigned authority limits to settle claims
- Complete training and perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- BS/BA degree or equivalent work experience
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in claims adjustment, general insurance or formal claims training
- Required to obtain and maintain all applicable licenses
- Continuing education courses leading to industry certifications preferred (e.g., AEI, IIA, CPCU)
- Knowledge of claims investigation techniques, medical terminology and legal aspects of claims
- Ability/requirement to go into the office twice a month if residing within 50 miles of select offices (Boston, Hoffman Estates, Plano, Suwanee, Westborough)
