About the role
- Solve complex problems and identify potential future issues across the spectrum of platforms and services
- Manage systems data for clients and provide day-to-day solutions and security compliance
- Oversee a queue of assignments and work directly with technicians, prioritizing tickets to deliver solutions to clients
- Recommend modernization options, identify new business opportunities, and cultivate relationships with other teams and stakeholders
- Prepare and format reports for mainframe printing and manage printer maintenance and support coordination
- Automate and optimize print processes using scripting (REXX or CLIST)
- Collaborate with diverse teams and gain management and organizational skills while working with clients across industries
Requirements
- Over 5 Years of Experience in Mainframe Print Services Administration and Architecture
- Comprehensive understanding of mainframe print architecture, including JES (Job Entry Subsystem) operations and effective spool/queue management
- Proficient in developing and troubleshooting JCL for print jobs, with expertise in managing pertinent DD statements (SYSOUT, PRINTER)
- Hands-on experience with mainframe printers such as IBM 3800, 3900, etc., and knowledge of printer communication protocols including SNA and TCP/IP
- Well-versed in print management applications such as AFP and IBM Infoprint Manager, along with utilities like SDSF
- Skilled at overseeing JES spools and output queues and resolving issues related to stuck or failed print jobs
- Experienced in preparing and formatting reports for mainframe printing, utilizing tools such as DFSORT or Syncsort
- Capable of diagnosing complex print job challenges and collaborating with hardware teams to facilitate printer maintenance and support
- Adept at scripting (REXX or CLIST) to automate and optimize print processes
- Preferred: Solid grasp of network printing protocols; foundational knowledge of OS/390, z/OS, or equivalent mainframe operating systems
- Preferred: Basic knowledge of OS/390, z/OS or other mainframe operating systems
