Solve complex problems and identify potential future issues across the spectrum of platforms and services
Manage systems data for clients and provide day-to-day solutions and security compliance
Oversee a queue of assignments and work directly with technicians, prioritizing tickets to deliver solutions to clients
Recommend modernization options, identify new business opportunities, and cultivate relationships with teams and stakeholders
Manage IBM i OS administration tasks including PTFs, user and security management, subsystems and job control, backups and restorations
Monitor performance, conduct capacity planning, and implement optimizations to address bottlenecks
Install and maintain IBM i licensed and third-party software; support deployments with development teams
Configure and manage TCP/IP networking and communication protocols on IBM i
Design CL programs/scripts and utilise scheduling tools to automate routine tasks
Develop and execute disaster recovery plans and manage high availability solutions
Requirements
More than 5 Years’ Experience in IBM i System Administration
Deep understanding of IBM i OS architecture and its components
Experience managing different versions of IBM i OS, including applying Program Temporary Fixes (PTFs)
Skilled at working from the command line (CL commands) and through menu-based navigation
Expertise in handling user profiles, groups, access rights, IBM i Security Navigator, and advanced auditing
Proficient in overseeing subsystems and job queues, scheduling batch jobs, monitoring active jobs and troubleshooting failures
Responsible for system backups using BRMS, planning and testing recovery procedures, and managing save/restore operations and media libraries
Knowledge of IBM i objects, DASD allocation, storage pools, and the integrated file system (IFS)
Experience with performance monitoring tools like IBM Navigator for i and WRKACTJOB, capacity planning and workload distribution
Experience installing and maintaining IBM i licensed software and third-party programs; supporting deployments with development teams
Networking and communications on IBM i: TCP/IP, FTP, Telnet, HTTP
Automation and scripting using CL programs and scheduling tools
Experience setting up and managing high availability and disaster recovery solutions (e.g., PowerHA) and replication methods
Preferred: Familiar with DB2 for i, IBM i Access Client Solutions (ACS), REST services on IBM i, and IBM Power Systems hardware
Customer-focused with a growth mindset and strong collaboration skills
