About the role
- Responsible for the overall evaluation, design, and daily operation of the Enterprise Network Infrastructure
- Act as a hands-on network engineer evaluating complex network-computing system requirements and implementing efficient solutions
- Develop technical standards, identify and evaluate new products, interface with vendors, and collaborate with IT teams
- Responsible for installation, configuration, upgrade, patching, maintenance, and monitoring of the Network across SAP NS2 Enterprise
- Ensure compliance with security and encryption protocols for U.S. national security
- Key deliverables include 100% network availability, fault and performance management, and security enforcement
- Create, implement, and document processes for performance monitoring, problem troubleshooting/helpdesk response, utilization/availability/capacity planning, landscape design/configuration/standards, 24/7 support/escalation/SLA models, IMAC services, and change management
- Perform and coordinate incident diagnosis, corrective action, and root cause analysis
- Oversee configuration, testing, installation, and servicing of all network components (switches, routers, circuits, wireless, VoIP)
- Independently organize work requests based on priority and system criticality
- Manage vendor relationships for evaluation, installation, upgrade, and maintenance of network components
- Act as a Network SME and consultant to internal groups (Endpoint Management, Cyber Security, etc.)
- Lead and perform systems analysis and design, including development of functional requirements for new infrastructure solutions
- Maintain responsibility for end-user satisfaction
Requirements
- Minimum 7 years of Information Technology experience
- Minimum 4 years of networking/telecom experience in a fast-paced environment
- Experience with routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, wireless, VPNs
- Working knowledge of TCP/IP and related networking protocols
- Familiarity with telephony, desktop operating systems, and server environments
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Proven ability to work independently and manage priorities in a dynamic environment
- Experience in network security architecture, technologies, and practices
- Proficient in operating firewalls, IDS, and 24x7 network monitoring
- Experience with enterprise and data center security policy deployment
- Proven leadership skills and experience leading technical teams of at least 4 people
- Ability to present complex technical content effectively
- Clearance: Must be a U.S. Citizen and only hold U.S. citizenship
- Location requirement: Candidates must be Virginia residents and live within 30 miles of the Herndon location
- On-site requirement: On-site at least 3 times per week
- Nice to have: Proficient UNIX skills and basic scripting (Perl, Python, Shell)
- Nice to have: Proficient Microsoft Windows administration
- Nice to have: Experience with public cloud environments (AWS, Azure)
- Nice to have: Certifications such as CCNP, CCDP, AWS, Azure
- Nice to have: Expertise in Cisco products, especially ISRs and 9300s
- Nice to have: Experience with Linux (Suse, RedHat, CentOS)
- Nice to have: Familiarity with tools: SolarWinds, Cisco ISE/ACS, MRTG, NetFlow, PuTTy, Wireshark
- Nice to have: Experience with Next Gen firewalls (Palo Alto, Cisco ASA)
- Nice to have: Integration experience with SEIM tools
- Nice to have: Knowledge of best practices and security guidelines (e.g., NIST 800-53 rev 4)
- Nice to have: Experience with technologies such as BGP, OSPF, Policy-Based Routing, L2/L3 VPN, QoS, SSL VPNs, ISE 802.1x
