About the role
- Define and execute organizational data strategy in partnership with the CPO and CTO while personally leading development of predictive models, machine learning algorithms, and advanced statistical analysis for customer behavior, churn prediction, and personalization
- Build and develop internal data science capabilities while establishing strategic contractor relationships and vendor partnerships in data science, data engineering, and ML/AI engineering, establishing methodologies and governance practices for strategic organizational growth
- Design and implement comprehensive business intelligence solutions using Power BI, Tableau, and advanced SQL while leveraging web/app analytics platforms (Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics) to optimize customer journeys and measure campaign effectiveness
- Conduct deep-dive statistical analysis and hypothesis testing to uncover insights from large datasets, develop A/B testing frameworks and experimentation strategies, and build data products that combine ML modeling with real-time optimization
- Oversee enterprise-scale data science infrastructure on AWS including model deployment, monitoring, and real-time scoring systems while managing contractor relationships and vendor partnerships to extend specialized capabilities
- Partner with Product, Sales, and Strategic Partnerships to embed predictive models and statistical insights into core business processes, develop customer-facing analytics products, and support enterprise implementations with sophisticated analytics and modeling capabilities
Requirements
- 6-8 years of combined experience in data science, machine learning, and statistical analysis with 3+ years in leadership roles building data capabilities
- Deep expertise in statistical modeling, ML algorithms, Python/R, AWS data services (SageMaker, EMR, Redshift)
- Experience with business intelligence tools (Power BI, Tableau) and advanced SQL
- Experience with web analytics platforms (Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics)
- Strong entrepreneurial mindset with self-starter mentality and proven ability to execute with urgency and excellence
- Experience managing contractor relationships, vendor partnerships, and cross-functional collaboration to deliver complex data science projects
- 5+ years driving revenue growth through data products, analytics, and optimization in e-commerce, digital advertising, or loyalty platforms
- Exceptional ability to communicate complex statistical concepts to C-level executives and external stakeholders
- Ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions through statistical analysis, BI dashboards, and predictive modeling
- Preferred: Degree in data science, statistics, computer science, or related quantitative field; experience in loyalty/rewards platforms, financial services, customer data platforms; thought leadership through speaking, publications, or open-source contributions
