About the role
- Manage the end-to-end lifecycle and business results of a product line
- Support completion of key projects/programs; partner with key functions and be accountable for overall project/program delivery
- Ensure projects/programs are on time and within budget; support alignment of project/program scope and objectives
- Support development of project/program budgets
- Develop product road maps and strategic business plans
- Prioritize activities and actions when developing business/strategic plans
- Drive development of strategy for area of influence to achieve business and profit growth
- Gather and analyze economic, financial, market, and industry information (industry share, ROI, IRR, NPV)
- Apply pricing strategies, conduct customer segmentation, win-loss analytics, and price realization contribution
- Manage legacy products/services and develop innovative products/services and business models
- Own product profitability and maintain a competitive database of products/services/offerings
- Provide application information to marketing and establish industry contacts/relationships
- Drive a customer-centric approach and translate findings into actionable recommendations
- Foster relationships with key customers and support channel partners
- Articulate implications and drive the "now what" actions within the product/service/offering
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required in business, marketing, engineering, or equivalent experience
- 15 years’ experience (total)
- 2-3 years of product/service/offering management experience
- Strong understanding of data center design and operations and advanced thermal management technologies (plus)
- Experience providing direction and leadership to highly-educated engineering teams
- Experience working with Sales and business leadership; presenting analysis of product performance, cost, pricing, competitive benchmarking and market trends
- Preferred: MBA or other graduate-level degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience
- Demonstrated high-level understanding of market trends in the data center or related industry
- Experience interfacing with customers, gathering voice of customer (VOC) and managing complex customer issues
- Demonstrated attention to detail, commitment to quality, results-driven and customer-focused
- Demonstrated ability to write well, edit effectively, and present complex issues succinctly and persuasively
- Basic understanding of the budgeting process and key financial indicators (ROI, IRR, NPV)
- Ability to follow established guidelines and processes (e.g., Capital Requests)
- Basic understanding of various business models (subscription, product/service delivery, distribution, etc.)
- Ability to gather and analyze economic, financial, market, and industry information
- Ability to understand and implement transactional pricing recommendations and value pricing/value capture models
- Strong VOC skill set and ability to provide meaningful VOC insights
- Ability to take calculated risks using facts, data, and scenario planning tools
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize activities and decline non-strategic work
- Ability to travel
