About the role
- Position Overview: The Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board invites well qualified candidates to apply for the position of Investigations Manager. The ideal candidate will have prior law enforcement experience as well as the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, develop and maintain positive and effective professional relationships, be highly organized, and be capable of multi-tasking to keep up with the demands of a busy and growing agency.
- Essential Functions: Under general direction of the Deputy Director of Professional Standards, serves as the Manager of Investigations. Serves as full line supervisor. Conducts special and routine projects, often of a sensitive and confidential nature, for the Deputy Director of Professional Standards and Executive Director. On behalf of the Deputy Director of Professional Standards and/or Executive Director, serves on various committees. Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
- Work Environment: The Board offers a robust benefit package and a flexible schedule; location is Springfield, IL, with potential for hybrid remote work upon training.
Requirements
- Four (4) years of college (bachelor's degree preferred), preferably with courses in law enforcement, criminal justice, or related field
- Three (3) years of progressively responsible administrative experience in sworn law enforcement capacity, including administration and basic patrol duties
- Eight (8) or more years of experience as a sworn law enforcement officer, in good standing, of a local, state, or federal law enforcement agency
- Five (5) or more years of demonstrated ability in the performance of law enforcement investigations
- Five (5) or more years of demonstrated ability to analyze problems and adopt an effective course of action
- Five (5) or more years of demonstrated experience successfully supervising sworn law enforcement officers at the local, state, or federal level
- Three (3) or more years of experience communicating complex ideas effectively in a professional setting, both verbally and in writing
- Five (5) or more years of demonstrated ability to develop and maintain professional, productive, and cooperative working relationships with others in the criminal justice field
- Three (3) or more years of demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel & Adobe Acrobat
- Ability to pass a criminal background and employment history check
- Requires a valid Illinois Driver's License and the ability to travel in the performance of duties, with overnight stays as appropriate
- Overtime is a condition of employment, and you may be requested or required/mandated to work overtime including scheduled, unscheduled, or last-minute overtime
- This requires the ability to work evenings and weekends
