About the role
- Operate as a freelance interpreter/translator in a 1099 Independent Contractor role for Hanna Interpreting Services
- Provide interpretation services to bridge communication gaps for individuals with limited English proficiency
- Set your availability and accept appointments based on your schedule
- Support language access in medical, legal, educational, and other professional settings
- Appointments available Monday - Friday, 8 am - 5 pm; appointments are not guaranteed and are offered based on need
- Complete skills assessment, background check, and onboarding to join the linguist network
Requirements
- Fluency in English and target language with a comprehensive understanding of idiomatic speech and cultural patterns
- Previous interpreting experience, preferably in medical, legal, or educational settings
- Demonstrated professionalism, punctuality, and adaptability in the workplace
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to operate basic communication
- Flexibility to work in different settings and adapt to various work environments
- Must be located in and authorized to work in the US (We do not offer visa sponsorship)
- High School Diploma or equivalent; or certification in interpreting or related fields
