Assists with all internal and external HR-related employee relations matters, except recruiting.
Assists in developing and implementing organizational guidelines, policies, and procedures. Research and recommend HR best practices.
Oversees GuideStar’s paid/unpaid time off policies & procedures in compliance with federal and state laws (FMLA/ADA/PWFA), jury duty, bereavement, including Short & Long-Term Disability claims.
Investigates and resolves employee discipline and complaints. Collaborates with supervisors on employee terminations.
Processes unemployment claims, prepares for hearings, and assists with responses to EEOC charges/investigations.
Oversees exits, conducts exit notifications, interviews, and coordinates the return of company equipment.
Coordinates employee development plans and performance management. Performance review support: 30-60-90-day introductory period reviews, annual performance reviews, maintains and monitor disciplinary and progressive improvement plans.
Wage and Hour and final paycheck compliance (federal and state).
Manages the Departments personnel records, HRIS system, and prepares reports as needed.
Recommends strategies to motivate employees and for employee retention.
Manages inclement weather alerts and employee attendance.
Drafts/amends Employment Agreements (on an as needed basis to cover department for PTO/FMLA).
Produces and submits reports on general HR activity.
Develops employee training program for managers, others as needed.
Benefits administration (on an as needed basis to cover department for PTO/FMLA).
Stays up to date with all federal/state/local HR laws and regulations (HR posters).
Assists upon request with HR-related special projects.
Oversees onboarding process with HR Coordinator and presents HR portion of orientation as needed.
Executes process improvement department initiatives as needed.
Assists with employee recognition program.
Worker’s Compensation/OSHA claims management.
Gains a working understanding of licensing requirements for all states in which GuideStar offers services (on an as needed basis to cover department for PTO/FMLA).
Assist with managing the workflow of the HR Assistant.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree required; in Human Resources or related field preferred
Three to five (3-5) years of experience as an HR Generalist; preferably in healthcare
SHRM-CP or PHR certification is preferred
Deep understanding of employment law and regulations; specifically FMLA/ADA
Efficient HR administration and people management skills
Excellent record keeping skills
Fantastic knowledge of HR functions and best practices
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Works comfortably under pressure and meets tight deadlines; must be able to multitask
Superb computer literacy with capability in email, MS Office, and HR software; UKG Ready preferred.
