Support pre-construction estimating and electrical design for projects
Develop and refine cost estimates for electrical systems and perform value engineering
Collaborate with design and engineering teams to refine estimating techniques and ensure technical feasibility
Lead distribution of technical RFP documents, manage bid leveling, and coordinate subcontractor proposals
Review subcontractor proposals for compliance and identify gaps or areas for clarification
Prepare and maintain detailed records of cost estimates, project specifications, and bid documentation
Lead development of exhibit A’s, contract documentation, and project status reports
Assist in preparing project proposals, conducting bid evaluations, and assessing feasibility of alternative solutions
Support transition from pre-construction to construction by delivering necessary documentation and design specifications
Manage concurrent pre-construction efforts and support execution teams in deploying complex system solutions
Provide expert recommendations for design of electrical systems and analyze/refine design documents to optimize performance
Mentor junior engineers and provide indirect leadership to technical professionals
Present technical information to internal and external customers
Travel to construction sites to observe and validate design implementation
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering (or related discipline) preferred
Equivalent years of related experience will be considered in place of a technical degree
8+ years of experience in electrical design, project estimating, or construction management (8-12 years ideal)
MBA or related business qualification or experience is desirable
Prior experience in construction estimating preferred but not required
Emphasis on design-build MEP approach with coordination of design and engineering efforts
Experience reviewing and analyzing construction documents from subcontractors and engineers
Experience working with design and engineering managers to ensure projects conform to technical requirements
Experience with electrical distribution systems, controls, lighting, power generation, process engineering, electrical design, single line diagrams, or construction management (required for electrical candidates)
Strong analytical abilities with attention to detail
Travel less than 20%
Strong leadership capabilities with a focus on mentoring and developing junior engineers and technical staff
Proven ability to guide teams in applying best practices for system design, installation, and problem-solving
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; presentations required to internal and external customers
Proficiency in industry specific modeling or estimating tools preferred
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively
