About the role
- Work in Gray AES Process Engineering group in an office (Lexington, KY; Atlanta, GA; or Charlotte, NC)
- Support and lead process engineering tasks on design–build projects from design through construction
- Complete process systems design and integration tasks including detailed mass & energy balances, BFD/PFD/P&ID drawings
- Create equipment lists, utility demand matrices, equipment layouts, and coordinate equipment and process system 3D models
- Prepare procurement specifications and approvals and provide input to estimating and scope development
- Generate estimates and small proposals for tasks within area of expertise
- Facilitate cross-functional collaboration among engineering and project team disciplines
- Own and support site-related activities during project delivery
Requirements
- Must be a student eligible for a Summer 2026 internship
- Students must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. and not require current or future visa sponsorship or work authorization
- Facilitate strong cross-functional relationships amongst all engineering and project team disciplines
- Serve as process engineering technical lead on complex, fully integrated projects of various sizes
- Experience or coursework in process systems design and integration development (mass & energy balance, BFD/PFD/P&ID drawings)
- Ability to produce equipment lists, utility demand matrices, equipment layouts, and 3D model coordination
- Ability to prepare procurement specifications/approvals
- Ability to provide input to estimating and support development of scope of work
- Ability to generate an entire estimate for specific tasks and small proposals within area of expertise
- Ability to own and support site-related activities
