About the role
- Work as an Electrical Engineering Intern in Gray AES’s Atlanta, GA office in the Electrical Engineering group
- Assist Senior Electrical Engineer in consulting with customers to determine functional and spatial requirements for new electrical systems and renovations
- Assist with layout of projects and integrate electrical engineering elements into unified designs for client review and approval
- Perform lighting calculations and layout designs using manual methods and Visual Lighting Computational software
- Conduct energy analysis, power density and life cycle cost analysis for system selection and LEED credit calculation
- Perform calculations and sizing of power distribution systems
- Evaluate and design industrial grounding and lightning protection systems
- Design and layout Building Communications, Signal, and Fire Alarm systems
- Assist in evaluation of submittals and scope of work from Electrical Subcontractors
- Prepare scale drawings, contract and construction documents, and periodic on-site observation to monitor compliance
- Prepare studies, reports, and project designs using CAD software (AutoCAD, Revit MEP)
Requirements
- Students legally authorized to work in the U.S.; no current or future visa sponsorship provided
- Knowledge of basic electrical power systems, life safety systems, and lighting
- Familiarity with the National Electrical Code
- Ability to perform lighting calculations and layout designs (manual and Visual Lighting Computational software)

- Proficiency in drafting using AutoCAD 2007; AutoCAD 2008 MEP and Revit MEP a plus
- Prepare project designs and plans using computer aided design software and equipment
