About the role

  • Lead legacy modernization, sustainment, and enhancement efforts for the team
  • Lead development planning of system and deployment and ensure software compliance standards are met
  • Prepare operating instructions, compile program development documentation, and analyze system capabilities
  • Guide a team of developers toward successful project delivery; provide coaching and mentorship
  • Establish and maintain high standards, best practices, and team habits
  • Assist in collecting and documenting user requirements, developing user stories, estimates, and work plans
  • Assist BA team in preparing reports, manuals, operational procedures and other project documentation
  • Integrate with necessary applications and coordinate with other system development teams
  • Proactively communicate and coordinate with internal and external project stakeholders
  • Analyze detailed system factors including I/O requirements, information flow, hardware/software needs, and alternative resolutions
  • Participate in code reviews and Sprint Reviews to ensure adherence to contract deliverables and specifications

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with 12 years experience (or commensurate experience)
  • Analytical and investigation skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal guidance and supervision
  • Experience supervising a team of developers/engineers with proven leadership skills
  • Experience with Agile Methodology and Scrum Processes
  • Advanced knowledge of software development lifecycle (SDLC)
  • Experience with legacy system modernization
  • Demonstrated experience in a remote work environment
  • Must be a US citizen or authorized to work in the US
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Suitability/Public Trust clearance
  • (Preferred) Experience with VA and/or other Federal Agencies
  • (Preferred) Understanding of the VA Veteran-Focused Integration Process (VIP)
  • (Preferred) Experience with Jira and Confluence
  • (Preferred) Experience working within the VA.gov platform, alongside OCTO
