About the role
- Design functional, reliable and cost-effective heavy-duty vehicle components
- Perform engineering analysis and design or re-design, and development of components into existing and new vehicles
- Provide integration and execution support for vehicle and component design
- Perform engineering calculations, investigations, and tasks according to Oshkosh and industry engineering standards and processes
- Support more senior engineers in preparation of plans, designs, computation methods, and reporting
- Responsible for a project or part of a project of limited complexity; may manage multiple projects
- Collaborate with other engineering or business support disciplines internally and with external suppliers
- Provide guidance or mentorship to entry level engineers, designers, or technicians
- Maintain effective communication with suppliers, internal and external customers, and outside resources concerning technical issues
- Enforce the proper use of engineering criteria and drawing standards
- Evaluate designs for performance, safety, and reliability
- Prepare layouts, drawings, specifications, and bills of material
- Perform engineering analysis to support selection of parts, components, and materials
- Provide technical assistance for production support and analyze/resolve engineering issues
- Prepare technical proposals, quotations, reports, and presentations
- Create and maintain project documentation for analysis, research, and historical records
- Utilize analytical and mathematical approaches to calculate or model system performance and optimize designs
Requirements
- MUST HAVE US CITIZENSHIP
- Full-time, onsite presence required
- Accredited Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field with three (3) or more years of related experience
- 3+ years of relevant industry experience
- Demonstrated hands-on curiosity and problem-solving approach
- Bachelors degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program in one of the following disciplines: Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Software Engineering
- Experience applying root-cause problem-solving methodologies (preferred)
- Background in electro-mechanical system integration (preferred)
- Hands-on experience with product testing, test labs, or hardware-in-the-loop testing environments (preferred)
- Strong technical writing skills with experience creating engineering documentation (preferred)
- Familiarity with data acquisition tools and post-processing techniques (preferred)
- Prior exposure to military combat systems (standout qualification)
- Knowledge of video signal design and transmission systems (standout qualification)
- Proficiency with 3D CAD design tools and modeling (standout qualification)
