Salary
💰 $150,000 - $170,000 per year
About the role
- Owning the mechanical design of major kiosk subsystems and components from concept to production
- Developing innovative, manufacturable designs for sheet metal, injection-molded plastics, CNC-machined parts, and electromechanical assemblies
- Creating and managing BOMs (Bill of Materials), engineering documentation, and 2D manufacturing drawings with proper GD&T and revision control
- Collaborating closely with electrical, thermal, and software engineering teams to integrate multi-disciplinary requirements
- Building and iterating on 3D CAD models, tolerance analyses, and detailed drawings using SolidWorks
- Driving prototype builds, DFM/DFX reviews, and design validation testing with internal teams and external suppliers
- Working directly with domestic and international manufacturing partners to resolve production issues and improve yields
- Contributing to reliability, thermal, EMI/ESD compliance, and safety testing for high-volume deployments
- Supporting product lifecycle activities, including cost reduction, design revisions, and next-gen architecture exploration
- Traveling internationally on occasion (~10%) to support suppliers, manufacturing builds, and validation testing
Requirements

- 3+ years of relevant mechanical design experience, preferably in consumer electronics, kiosks, medical devices, or other high-volume hardware products
- Proficiency in SolidWorks (or similar CAD) with strong GD&T and tolerance stack-up skills
- Hands-on experience with prototype fabrication, DFM, and mass production processes
- Familiarity with plastics, sheet metal, die casting, CNC machining, and adhesive joining techniques
- Strong understanding of thermal management, structural integrity, and reliability testing
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment
- Experience with high-volume contract manufacturers and overseas suppliers (preferred)
- Knowledge of electro-mechanical integration (displays, cameras, sensors, connectors, cables, etc.) (preferred)
- Exposure to regulatory compliance (EMI/ESD, UL, CE, FCC) (preferred)
- Experience working with computer vision systems or kiosk-style hardware is a plus (preferred)
- Mandarin Chinese proficiency is a plus (preferred)
- Willingness to travel internationally (~10%) as needed for supplier engagement and production support (preferred)
