About the role

  • Provide technical direction and guidance to craft labor in support of a power equipment outage
  • Perform services and maintenance activities on customers' site/property to contribute to, maintain, repair and refurbish sold or existing products
  • Execute preventive and remedial maintenance service and manage maintenance facilities and field services engineering
  • Plan and execute activities that impact departmental operations within standard functional practices and procedures
  • Troubleshoot control and instrumentation systems at all levels, from field devices to control system, and networking
  • Use technical expertise and analytic thinking to solve problems and propose solutions within set parameters
  • Collaborate with customers, suppliers, GE project management and engineering communities
  • Provide informal guidance to new team members and may serve as an individual contributor or early people leader
  • Document, plan, market, and execute programs and projects as required

Requirements

  • Industrial automation, Electrical, or electronic engineering degree from an accredited university or college (or a High School Diploma / GED and a minimum of 4 years of industry experience)
  • 4 years of field engineering experience in power generation, industrial plant automation, distributed, PLC (programmable logic controller) or similar industry sectors
  • Ability to troubleshoot control and instrumentation systems at all levels, from field devices to control system, and networking
  • Must be able to generate immediate credibility with customers, suppliers, GE project management / engineering communities
  • Strong customer focus, interpersonal and computer skills
  • Ability to multi-task in a dynamic, geographically dispersed team environment
  • Effective written and oral communication skills with excellent spoken and written English skills
  • Customer-focused skills, demonstrated by experience in field services, customer services or project management
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems
  • Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs
  • Established project management skills
  • Previous industrial field service experience
  • Controls experience to equipment that functions as a "prime mover"
  • Electronics and/or mechanical troubleshooting skills
  • "Hands-on approach"
  • Computer skills, familiarity with MS Office, TCP/IP configuration
  • Prior mechanical / maintenance experience preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for this opening
  • Successful completion of a drug screen (as applicable)
