About the role
- Plans, develops, schedules, and performs engineering assignments related to the design, construction, operation, and maintenance of gas distribution and pressure regulating systems, including major/complex projects
- Ensures work on the Eversource Gas Business Unit is performed in accordance with all federal, state, and company pipeline construction standards and procedures
- Supports development, review and management of the quality standards, procedures, and work practices for the ESGBU, including reviews of new federal and state requirements to ensure compliance
- Resolves issues related to compliance with policies and procedures
- Resolves issues related to material and equipment for use on the distribution system and supports failure analysis of material and equipment as necessary
- Reviews requests for new materials for use on the gas system and supports maintenance of the materials catalog
- Interfaces with the QA/QC organization to address issues related to quality, including investigations into quality issues and procedure/policy changes
- Occasional interaction with state regulators on issues regarding compliance with federal and state pipeline regulations
- Participate in asset management programs for installed materials on the gas distribution system
- Communicates changes in procedures, policies and standards to the Gas Business Unit and outside entities
- Assists in gas distribution restoration efforts during emergencies
- On call Storm Duty assignment as necessary
Requirements
- Authorization to work in the United States is a precondition to employment; Eversource will not sponsor candidates for work visas
- Must be able to work at least three days in the office, including Tuesdays and Wednesdays; must be able to work up to five days in the office if needed
- Must be available to work emergency restoration assignments and On call Storm Duty as necessary
- Must be available to travel between MA/CT/NH as necessary
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Engineering Technology or related discipline
- Five (5) to eight (8) years of related engineering experience
- Gas experience is a plus
- Knowledge of Title 49, Part 192 of the Code of Federal Regulations preferred
- Thorough knowledge of distribution construction and maintenance work practices and procedures
- Knowledge of applicable governmental codes and regulations
- Knowledge of basic welding and fusing principles
- Working knowledge of environmental requirements affecting related activities
- Proficient in MS computer applications
- Some exposure to gaseous atmospheres, construction site hazards, and hazards on customer’s property
- This is a Safety Sensitive position and subject to random drug testing
