About the role

  • Serve as a Point of Contact within Ceded Reinsurance for Everest Insurance Claim Department for all Lines of Business.
  • Create and maintain timely claim identification and diary reports for workflow management.
  • Create and issue reinsurance loss notices per reinsurance treaty and facultative contract terms.
  • Respond to reinsurance inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
  • Assist the Company claim professionals understand reinsurance structures and net exposure for losses.
  • Develop and maintain external relationships with reinsurers and brokers.
  • Work with Accounting/Finance to ensure premium and loss information is accurately captured in order to process reinsurance.
  • Collaborate and support Placement team by executing on the contract requirements, updates and internal reporting.
  • Facilitate annual audits – both underwriting and claims, setting up access to auditors, trouble-shooting IT issues and arranging / participating in wrap up meetings.
  • Develop working knowledge of internal data systems.
  • Review existing processes and procedures and makes recommendations to enhance efficiencies.
  • Flag issues and escalate urgent matters to management.
  • Handle various projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • 5-7 years of reinsurance, reinsurance claims or reinsurance operations experience.
  • Ability to read and understand US and global reinsurance contracts and calculate reinsurance based on contract terms.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of the insurance industry, claims, reinsurance and the legal and regulatory environment.
  • Basic understanding of insurance policies, coverage issues for property, casualty and specialty lines of business.
  • Experience with MS Office products, including Excel with some level of proficiency including VLUPs and pivots and formulas.
  • Collaborative mind-set and willingness to work with people outside immediate reporting hierarchy to improve processes and generate optimal departmental efficiency.
