• Establish immediate contact with Policyholders and claimants.
• Conduct extensive investigations into causes and origins of all major property claims.
• Interview insureds, claimants and others as required.
• Inspect property damage, prepare estimates, evaluate and make recommendations regarding coverage, determine liability and total value of claims and negotiate settlements.
• Set and maintain adequate reserves and exercise independent judgment in evaluating property damage.
• Determine scope of work and obtain agreed scope and cost of repair with contractor and/or Policyholder.
• Use outside experts and attorneys as required; document claim files and submit final report for closure.
• Assign and supervise handling of property losses by independent adjusters when necessary and advise claims adjusters.
• Conduct related training of field office claims personnel and attend industry-related training programs to stay current on legal developments.
• Establish and maintain relationships with local, state and regional organizations and act as coordinator of Catastrophe Team activities at catastrophe sites.
