About the role

  • Remote position, ideally in the state of Kentucky; relocation package available; company car provided.
  • Trains, develops and guides Agents and district sales managers in promotion and sale of commercial lines products.
  • Establishes and maintains relationships with branch managers and Agents to improve agency commercial business placement.
  • Assists branch managers in setting commercial lines sales objectives focused on growth, underwriting profitability and agency development.
  • Provides hands-on training on ERIE commercial lines products, resources and web-based training programs to Agents and DSMs.
  • Contacts and visits Agents regularly to evaluate quotations and applications for multiple commercial lines and larger complex accounts.
  • Makes acceptability and pricing decisions within defined binding authority; refers risks beyond authority to senior underwriters.
  • Develops/maintains relationships with Home Office commercial underwriting management and production underwriters; works with claims/adjusters on mutual concerns.
  • Serves as company representative in policyholder and community relations; handles branch office agency business as a licensed, non-commission company Agent.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and six years of sales, underwriting, claims, loss control or marketing experience; or Associate’s degree and eight years; or High school diploma/GED and ten years of relevant experience.
  • Incumbent must live in territory assigned unless a change is approved by the company.
  • Occasional overnight travel required; acceptance of hours beyond the normal work week and some vacation restrictions during peak periods.
  • Willingness to obtain property/casualty insurance license for assigned state/branch within 120 days from hire/transfer.
  • Valid driver's license and good driving record required; company car provided.
  • Preferred professional designations: ARM, AU, ALCM, CRM, CIC, CPCU, or General Insurance Program.
  • Physical requirements: lifting/moving 0-20 lbs (often); occasional 20-50 lbs; occasional ability to move >50 lbs with lifting aid; driving often; manual keying/data entry often; pushing/pulling occasionally; climbing rarely.
