Supports the Director in developing and implementing strategies to represent Emory University in Washington, D.C. on issues related to federal policy and legislation
Monitors legislation and policy developments at the federal level and provides updates to the Director of Federal Affairs and the Vice President of OGCA
Cultivates relationships with Members of Congress, Congressional staff, and representatives of the Administration and federal agencies
Coordinates and plans tours of Emory for external stakeholders and schedules Capitol Hill meetings for Emory advocates
Produces research analysis and creates background materials to support the Director of Federal Affairs and ensure coordination across the OGCA team
Creates education material for legislators and staffers by working with offices across campus to gather and distill pertinent information
Works closely with Emory's associations, attends meetings, identifies issues of interest, and communicates with internal Emory stakeholders regarding association activity
Performs related responsibilities as required
Requirements
A bachelor's degree
Three years of experience in a federal affairs or related environment
Experience working on Capitol Hill
Substantive, first-hand knowledge of Congressional and federal policies
Established relationships on Capitol Hill preferred
Knowledge and understanding of issues related to higher education, research and health care
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Must be able to commute to Emory University on a flexible weekly schedule based upon business needs
