About the role
- Determine acceptability of insurance risks and appropriate premium rates for large and complex group cases
- Calculate renewal rates for large complex cases based on analysis of experience, location, demographics
- Provide guidance to medical underwriters concerning risk selection for individual health coverage
- Coordinate with other departments to ensure accuracy and consistency of account reporting
- Propose rates for prospective business using carrier experience, demographic data and manual rates
- Perform post-sale reviews and prepare/supervise annual settlements, ERISA reports, and rate projections
- Survey product portfolios by market, monitor sales results and trends, and recommend product portfolio changes
- Assist in establishing rating and administrative procedures and participate in multi-functional teams as underwriting representative
- Assist in technical development of underwriting associates and update/monitor departmental processes and procedures for compliance
Requirements
- Requires a BA/BS in a related field or equivalent
- Minimum 5 years of related experience (or any combination of education and experience)
- Intermediate Microsoft Excel experience (advanced formulas, PivotTables, VLOOKUPs, macros) preferred
- CPCU, CLU, LOMA, HIAA or other insurance related courses preferred
- Healthcare industry experience preferred
- Ability to be in-office 1-2 days per week and reside within commuting distance of an office (unless accommodation granted)
- May require vaccination for COVID-19 and Influenza for certain patient/member-facing roles
