About the role
- Cloud FinOps SME to join our team and bring clarity, strategy, and accountability to the way we manage cloud costs.\n
- In this role, you’ll be a trusted advisor and expert in cloud financial operations—driving cost optimization, improving financial visibility, and helping teams make smarter, data-driven decisions about their cloud usage.\n
- You’ll work across departments, connecting IT, security, finance, and business teams to ensure cloud spending aligns with overall business goals.\n
- Lead the development and implementation of FinOps practices across multi-cloud environments.\n
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to build strategies that optimize cloud usage and reduce waste.\n
- Provide meaningful insights and reporting on cloud spend and trends—helping teams forecast, budget, and stay within targets.\n
- Use risk management principles to identify and mitigate financial and operational risks tied to cloud services.\n
- Participate in (and sometimes lead) reviews and assessments of IT and cloud operations, identifying areas for improvement.\n
- Support IT transformation initiatives by ensuring financial efficiency is a core part of the change process.\n
- Recommend oversight strategies based on your understanding of IT/IS goals, risks, and solutions.\n
- A FinOps certification (like FinOps Certified Practitioner).\n
- Experience with cloud cost management tools and platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).\n
- A background in regulated industries or experience working with federal/state agencies.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in information technology or information security.\n
- A bachelor’s degree in IT, computer science, cybersecurity, auditing, or business administration.\n
- A master’s degree in a related field.\n
- At least 5 years of IT/IS operations or service delivery experience, with increasing responsibility.\n
- 3+ years of experience supporting or leading transformational change within IT.\n
- A strong understanding of how to evaluate and mitigate risks using proven risk management approaches.\n
- The ability to align IT/IS goals with business objectives and provide oversight strategies that make sense.\n
- Experience participating in or leading operational reviews or audits.
