The Head of Credit & Risk will be responsible for owning and overseeing the credit risk function for a transportation factoring company. This includes developing credit policies, managing the credit underwriting and portfolio risk, and ensuring the soundness of credit decisions. Key Responsibilities: Leadership & Oversight Act as the functional head for Credit & Risk Lead, train, and mentor the credit and underwriting team. Collaborate with Sales, Operations, and Funding to support growth without compromising risk standards. Ensure compliance with internal and external audit requirements, regulatory standards, and best practices. Policy & Strategic Development Drive overall credit & risk strategy for Transportation Factoring group Innovate, automate and lead improvements using internal and external technology, scoring models, and decision frameworks. Recommend strategic initiatives to enhance risk-adjusted profitability. Participate in executive-level decisions regarding pricing, client onboarding, and new market segments. Work across the eCapital Group and support corporate initiatives as appropriate. Credit Risk Management Develop, implement, and monitor credit policies and procedures tailored to transportation factoring. Maintain and manage the company's risk appetite, portfolio limits, and exposure levels. Oversee the credit approval process and ensure sound underwriting practices. Review and approve large or high-risk transactions beyond underwriter limits. Monitor concentration risk by client, debtor, industry, and geography. Portfolio Management Continuously assess and report on the health of the client portfolio, including delinquency trends, charge-offs, and recoveries. Oversee the monitoring of debtor credit quality and performance. Proactively identify potential risks and recommend mitigation strategies.
Requirements
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field (Master’s or MBA preferred). 10+ years of progressive experience in credit, risk, or lending, with at least 5 years in factoring in senior credit roles. Deep understanding of transportation factoring, including industry-specific debtor risk, carrier cycles, and seasonal factors. Strong knowledge of UCC filings, receivables verification, and debtor due diligence. Demonstrated ability to build and lead high-performing credit teams. Experience working with credit scoring tools, financial analysis, and cash flow modeling.
