About the role
- Manage engineering teams providing technical leadership in DFMA, automated assembly, proof of principle, development, scaleup and implementation of automated manufacturing lines at integrators and contract manufacturers
- Provide technical support for on-market production at Contract Manufacturers (CMs) and lead CM Technical Competency assessments
- Lead Process Technology Assessments for proposed automation and process technologies with documentation and rationale
- Provide technical leadership and support for installation, start-up, validation, and transfer of automated manufacturing equipment and process technologies across the Global CM network
- Lead technical assessments for automated assembly methodologies and inspection processes, proposing improvements to meet cost, reliability, capacity, and quality targets
- Provide technical input into design of new automation equipment and manufacturing processes to drive effective CM solutions
- Guide and support suppliers and internal teams to ensure adherence to engineering and operations practices, foster partnerships, and promote continuous improvement
- Collaborate cross-functionally with manufacturing, R&D, supply chain, and quality assurance; travel to CMs to investigate production or quality issues and troubleshoot equipment and processes
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Biomedical or related engineering discipline
- Minimum of 10 years experience in related fields (posting also notes typically 13+ years industry experience)
- 5-8 years of previous people management experience
- Experience managing technical associates across automated assembly, process technology, packaging, process optimization and validation for medical devices
- Demonstrated ability to coach, mentor and develop Engineering talent
- Experience in high volume medical device manufacturing highly desired
- Experience working with automation suppliers, integrators, and deployment at Contract Manufacturer sites
- Strong technical leadership and collaborative skills
- Demonstrated success driving continuous improvement using LEAN, KAIZEN, and Six Sigma methodologies
- Ability to travel to contract manufacturers, integrators and/or manufacturing sites as necessary
- Travel Required: 25 to 50%
